With my list written out, I got an early start for another marathon day of shopping on Thursday. My last stop, was Wegmans for groceries for the weekend and for baking. While organizing my final list, I realized that I didn't have my credit card. Of course my mind started spinning as I thought of the 'what if's' of someone else having it. Since I wasn't far from the last place I'd used it, I went back only to find there were no parking spaces near the store. In my rush, I parked 'illegally' to retrace my steps. Thankfully the store had my card, but for some reason it took several minutes to locate the manager to open the safe and retrieve it. When I came out, a policeman was just walking up to my van with his ticket book in hand. I bombarded the officer with my explanation that came complete with a plea for leniency and goodwill since it's the holidays. He bought it, and let me go!
Too tired to do the dishes, I left them overnight secretly hoping my luck would hold and someone like Carl or the dish-fairy would do them while I was sleeping--No such luck, they were still there waiting for me this morning.
It was another early start to the day, but I got everything cleaned up,
put away and a few packages ready to be mailed.
Then I was off again to our little (but new) post office to stand in line.
Our 7-11 was busy too.
As this video shows, Todd and I were a lot alike in our 'running' this morning,
I just wish I had his speed.
But with everything done for now, I've been able to sit,
and enjoy a warm bowl of potato soup for my lunch.

It's Todd's world:-)
ReplyDeleteNice shot of the woodpecker or sapsucker, I'm not sure which. I can't get good photos of ours to save my life. I get set and they scoot into the branches or around the back of the tree. It's a game they play and they always win.
I have potatoes and leeks for soup too. Do you have a good recipe?
Thank goodness they had your credit card and the police officer was in a good mood!
ReplyDeleteTodd made me smile. He's such a cutie and wow...that little pup can really run.
Your soup looks wonderful. I hope you can relax the rest of the day away. You've earned it!
I have the same desire to sit and sip a cup of tea, but I'm off for yet another chat with the vet concerning my invalids. Then it's home to wrap and pack boxes for shipping. Then it'll be time to sip a glass of wine and pick up my needlework.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Good for you. I am glad the police man was nice enough to you. I went to the airport the weekend before Thanksgiving to pick my youngest daughter up and I got a ticket. I pleaded since I thankfully have a completely clean record but no such thing. Thats OK, I was not getting any points for this ticket.
ReplyDeleteI do not usually go to bed with dishes dirty but when I have I also hope the dish fairy comes but instead wake up to dirty dishes. I have since learned my lesson and just make sure they are done before I go to bed.
Hope you have a wonderful relaxing weekend.
hurray for credit card retrieval and for nice cops! :)
ReplyDeleteWoof! Woof! My mom does the same thing ... well she has a very good medical reason for not washing dishes. How cute is your Post Office. I bet it will be Lots of Golden FUN running with Todd. DELISH! soup!!! ENJOY! Lots of Golden LOVE n Woofs, Sugar

I did my thing this morning and know how you feel. Glad you got your shopping and business done and out of the way! Wouldn't it be wonderful if we had the energy of puppies?
ReplyDeleteNo dish fairies in this house, either. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Wegmans, but what a wonderful looking store. :)
Your soup looks wonderful! Is it home made?
So glad to hear you found your credit card. Thank you for your wonderful pictures, too!
Send that nice police officer a Christmas card. You did get his name, right??
ReplyDeleteP.S. I DID have a nap today!
Losing my credit card would have been my worst nightmare, it doesn't take long for thieves to rack up a fortune either.
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to find it so quickly, and woo the policeman into foregoing the ticket ;)
The potato soup looks devine !
Hugs,
~Jo
SHE went to Wedgmans in September; but it wasn't such an exciting trip...BOL!
ReplyDeleteJust relax, take a deep breath and you can start all over.
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
Yey Wegmans! Great photos and video, but what I really need to know is how you made that SPECTACULAR LOOKING POTATO SOUP...and what did you garnish it with. I'm drooling.
ReplyDeleteYour grocery stores look so much more 'inviting' than ours!
ReplyDeleteYour soup look delicious...'Please sir, could I have one more bowl of soup!'
And away Todd goes! What a character!
Now go rest and have another bowl of soup!
I know what you mean, Kim. I'd love to be able to just sit and blog all day, unfortunately, there's always a list a mile long of to-do's! Your potato soup looks delish. Looks like you are gaining on your list and a long nap will be needed on Christmas day!
ReplyDeletep.s. I did not know Doris Day has a new album out?? She's one of my favorites!
Your Potato soup looks wonderful. Would you share your recipe? This is the perfect season for it...
ReplyDeleteTotally an unnerving feeling when you've lost your card. I once left my small purse hanging on the back of a chair at a Wegman's when we were having dinner there. Totally forgot it for about 15 minutes while we shopped. Hubby RAN back to the area and fortunately, it was still there! Whew! Love that woodpecker shot! Hope you got to enjoy your birdies for a while today!
ReplyDeleteJust Do It, Kim!
ReplyDeleteoh my that soup....I'll be dreamming about it....Love that pooch....glad you found your card and that you ran into a police officer with a heart....
ReplyDeleteOh happy days! You found your credit card! And no ticket from mr policeman too!
ReplyDeleteYour potatoe soup looks so scrumpious, that we want a bowl right now!
Hope you get more days to "do what you want to do"

That Todd is such a treat! Glad you could slow down long enough to enjoy that yummy soup. Think I'll make some myself.
ReplyDeleteHi Y'all,
ReplyDeleteThanks for visitin' and followin' me. We've been followin' y'all for awhile.
Feel for y'all! My Humans have been goin' in circles, or so it seems. At least y'all have each other to play with while the humans do people stuff.
Don't always have time to comment but wanted to check on Sheba's leg and let y'all know our paws are crossed that there are no more complications.
Y'all come back now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Sounds like you had one heck of a day!...and as for Todd, oh how I love that little chap...he certainly knows what he enjoys. (hugs to Todd from me over here).
ReplyDeleteKim, I'm a little concerned that there is a blank picture in this weeks post. It's right above the part about "It was another early start to the day, but I got everything cleaned up,
ReplyDeleteput away and a few packages ready to be mailed". Nothing there!? This vision impairment effects most men.
BTW, we love Wegmans - lucky you.
I am so behind on my blog reading! It looks like you have been very busy here Kim! I hope you found time to have a nap! :)
