I Just Want to Sit

With my list written out, I got an early start for another marathon day of shopping on Thursday.  My last stop, was Wegmans for groceries for the weekend and for baking.  While organizing my final list, I realized that I didn't have my credit card.  Of course my mind started spinning as I thought of the 'what if's' of someone else having it.  Since I wasn't far from the last place I'd used it, I went back only to find there were no parking spaces near the store. In my rush, I parked  'illegally' to retrace my steps.  Thankfully the store had my card, but for some reason it took several minutes to locate the manager to open the safe and retrieve it.  When I came out, a policeman was just walking up to my van with his ticket book in hand.  I bombarded the officer with my explanation that came complete with a plea for leniency and goodwill since it's the holidays.  He bought it, and let me go!

Re-energized and feeling lucky I was in and out of the grocery store quickly and on my way home; still feeling grateful for finding my credit card unharmed and for the kindness of the police officer.  I was up late last evening, but I finished my baking, made potato soup and wrote a few Christmas cards.

Too tired to do the dishes, I left them overnight secretly hoping my luck would hold and someone like Carl or the dish-fairy would do them while I was sleeping--No such luck, they were still there waiting for me this morning.
It was another early start to the day, but I got everything cleaned up,
put away and a few packages ready to be mailed.
Then I was off again to our little (but new) post office to stand in line.
Our 7-11 was busy too.
As this video shows, Todd and I were a lot alike in our 'running' this morning,
I just wish I had his speed.

But with everything done for now, I've been able to sit,
and enjoy a warm bowl of potato soup for my lunch.
There's a part of me that would kind of like to just take a nap,
But I really just want to do nothing, look out my window at the birds
and read what you've all been up too.
I think that's just what I'm going to do...

  1. It's Todd's world:-)

Nice shot of the woodpecker or sapsucker, I'm not sure which. I can't get good photos of ours to save my life. I get set and they scoot into the branches or around the back of the tree. It's a game they play and they always win.

I have potatoes and leeks for soup too. Do you have a good recipe?

  2. Thank goodness they had your credit card and the police officer was in a good mood!

Todd made me smile. He's such a cutie and wow...that little pup can really run.

Your soup looks wonderful. I hope you can relax the rest of the day away. You've earned it!

  3. I have the same desire to sit and sip a cup of tea, but I'm off for yet another chat with the vet concerning my invalids. Then it's home to wrap and pack boxes for shipping. Then it'll be time to sip a glass of wine and pick up my needlework.

    Have a great weekend.

  4. Good for you. I am glad the police man was nice enough to you. I went to the airport the weekend before Thanksgiving to pick my youngest daughter up and I got a ticket. I pleaded since I thankfully have a completely clean record but no such thing. Thats OK, I was not getting any points for this ticket.
I do not usually go to bed with dishes dirty but when I have I also hope the dish fairy comes but instead wake up to dirty dishes. I have since learned my lesson and just make sure they are done before I go to bed.
Hope you have a wonderful relaxing weekend.

  12. Losing my credit card would have been my worst nightmare, it doesn't take long for thieves to rack up a fortune either.
Glad you were able to find it so quickly, and woo the policeman into foregoing the ticket ;)
The potato soup looks devine !

  16. I know what you mean, Kim. I'd love to be able to just sit and blog all day, unfortunately, there's always a list a mile long of to-do's! Your potato soup looks delish. Looks like you are gaining on your list and a long nap will be needed on Christmas day!
p.s. I did not know Doris Day has a new album out?? She's one of my favorites!

  18. Totally an unnerving feeling when you've lost your card. I once left my small purse hanging on the back of a chair at a Wegman's when we were having dinner there. Totally forgot it for about 15 minutes while we shopped. Hubby RAN back to the area and fortunately, it was still there! Whew! Love that woodpecker shot! Hope you got to enjoy your birdies for a while today!

  22. Hi Y'all,

Thanks for visitin' and followin' me. We've been followin' y'all for awhile.

Feel for y'all! My Humans have been goin' in circles, or so it seems. At least y'all have each other to play with while the humans do people stuff.

Don't always have time to comment but wanted to check on Sheba's leg and let y'all know our paws are crossed that there are no more complications.

    Y'all come back now,

  24. Kim, I'm a little concerned that there is a blank picture in this weeks post. It's right above the part about "It was another early start to the day, but I got everything cleaned up,
put away and a few packages ready to be mailed". Nothing there!? This vision impairment effects most men.
BTW, we love Wegmans - lucky you.
