Despite the beautiful weather, it is a stressful start to my week. I'll spare you the drama and just say that I came home this evening, exhausted. Carl is working late so that left me to care for the dogs alone. Todd is of course the one with the most energy. You'll remember in my last post his very favorite toy, 'red ball' was missing. We've moved furniture, searched in places that there's no way it could be, but we've been unable to find it. But tonight, throwing a tennis ball for him did the trick to wear him out.
Once all the dogs had been loved and fed I decided that I was going to lay down for a few minutes. Things were quiet in the house, and it was just starting to get dark. I must have dozed off because Todd woke me up when he jumped on the bed and dropped something next to me. When I looked at him, it was easy to see that he was really excited about something, and he was wagging his tail. I put my hand on what he had dropped and I was stunned--It was the red-ball!!! Of course I had to chuckle because I'd love to know just where in the world he found it! Even though I'll never know that answer, I do know that its reappearance gave me a little needed grin at the end of my long stress filled day! Thank-you Todd!!
oh, so sweet! good for todd (and for you, for the laugh...)
ReplyDeleteawwwwwwwww

ReplyDeleteYea for Todd finding his ball. My Scottie Otis (gone but not forgotten) had a special ball he loved and took it outside and forgot it. We got a good snow and there was no finding it. One nice spring day he came running up to me with this ball in his mouth, Snows gone but ball isn't!!
ReplyDeleteCheers,

Nothing is sweeter or more satisfying than seeing your happy, exuberant puppy FINALLY asleep with his cherished toy close by.
ReplyDeleteGus is our 2 year old PUPPY who has a similar red ball [kong} that is his delight. There have been more than a few occasions when the whole household is looking for his red ball. WE have decided we must get a back up in case he really does lose his ball, because he will be running everywhere looking for it and there will be no peace for anyone.
Gus came to live with us in October from a home that was no longer able to take care of him. He was a wild child. When we ask
ed about his toys we were told he tore everything to shreds. We of course discovered Kong and the nyla bones. A golden must have toys!
Gus just heard me mention his red ball while he was napping and is frantically looking for it right now. I do understand the importance of having that special toy!
That is so darling, Kim! I haven't given Copper his "red ball" here at the new house...not yet...I'm afraid he'll have a heart attack!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteThis is so funny and I can totally relate - Oliver is so similar. That Todd is the cutest guy ever! :)
ReplyDeleteHi dear Kim, I so love this post and how, just when we need it most, our pups can do something that brings us such joy. I love your new header and of course seeing Todd sleeping with his red ball next to him was priceless. Reggie had a good day but his appetite is low. Have a wonderful Thursday my dear friend.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Noreen & Reggie
I love this pic of Todd and his ball!
ReplyDeleteThe return of the red ball! Fantastic. Good for you Todd, but I think you knew where it was all the time. You are so darn adorable and look how cute you are there while sleeping with your ball. Priceless picture.
ReplyDeleteToo funny. That Todd is quite the character. I guess tennis ball wasn't cutting it...lol.
ReplyDeleteYeah Todd! Don't tell Kim about your secret hiding place! lol
ReplyDeleteI've been away sick for a month now and today I knew I just had to look you up. I'm feeling better and wanted to see how you and your dogs are doing. I knew Todd would bring a you a lot of joy! Isn't it interesting that he didn't forget his red ball?
