The Cat in the Hat at Golden Pines

The sun really shined...
It was too hot to play...
So we have sat in the house, where it's cool for these past three days....
I sat here with the dogs, when the temperature reached more than one-hundred-and-two...
And only Todd and Annie have found something to do...
But even Todd will agree it's to hot to be out and much too hot to play ball...
And so we have sat in the house--We have done nothing at all.
~Sandy~
So all we did all weekend was to Sit! Sit! Sit!  And we have not liked it...Not one little bit....

  2. I know what you mean about the temperatures being out of wack. Roscoe goes out for 3 minutes and comes right back inside. During the week I have to push him to go out. On the weekends he stays out longer since we are out working on the yard.
Hope this weather gets better soon.

  3. To hot to play, that's bad.

Love the pictures, except the temp one. Ugh!

Ours is a bit better, overcast and threatening but nothing happening.

  4. It's the dog days of summer at your house, no doubt about that.

  5. So clever! Hope the heat breaks down there. In the meantime, I like your poetry and bowl of ice!

  6. Oh Kim, thats too tough to take! At least you have air,
    thats not our fate!

But the temp has dropped from 96
    right on down to 85.

You think 85 is plenty hot,but its not after having 96!

  7. Sending cool breezes and rain your way! Although it has cooled off here, I spent a good part of the day inside, doing nothing. Hopefully, our monsoons will come your way.

  25. Sandy is a lucky guy!

One tip I have heard for helping a blind dog navigate is to use scent.

Vanilla at the top of the steps, and lemon at the bottom, maybe? Those scents are easily available in extracts at the grocery....

  27. Oh I love that poem! It is a bit cooler here today (at least this morning) I was walking them at 7 am both weekend days because it was so hot. I hope you have some relief and you all get to get out and about. Charlie looks like he's hogging that bowl of ice. :-)

  28. I'm glad you were all able to stay cool!

  29. What cute photos - bet the dogs are suffering in the heat. Good idea to put ice cubes in their water! Talking of water, it still hasn't stop raining here in the UK and we haven't seen the sun for so long we are all gong to get vitamin D deficiency. Pity we couldn't somehow combine the weather patterns. Lily. xxx

  33. Oh my that's HOT!...although, we could do with some warmth and summer over here. Apparently due to a shift in the jet stream, we are getting cold wet weather and summer never looks like arriving:(

  34. Now, that is hot. I'll never complain about 85 deg again.

I just read about Sandy. You have a heart of gold. I can tell that he's going to repay you a million times over with love.

  35. Hey Kim, what a great post...love Dr. Suess and your take on his prose..:)
The pics are super..which one pooch is in the last picture? THOSE EYES!
Hope you are getting some relief from the heat...the middle of the country has cooled a bit thank goodness, but no moisture :(
    take care...

  37. Sounds a lot like the way we spent our vacation. A lot of sitting due to the heat. At least it has cooled off for a few days.

  38. Love love love your Dr. Seuss style story! yes, the weather unbelievably horrid. Those poor puppies. I know, when our power went out for 28 hours after a storm, I wondered what "Henri" was thinking - "what are they doing to me."

  39. Great post Kim (Suess chef).
I see it's cooling off some. We'll try and send some even cooler weather.
Good to see Annie playing with young Todd.
    Very cute.

  40. I so wish we could have one cool day for the dogs to run and play.

The rhyming seems to be contagious.

  41. Wow, that is some heat. And we are complaining about what a cold summer up here. Guess we should count our blessings. Too hot to go to the lake? That's my only idea, hang in there and I will try to send you some of our cool weather.
