The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for our county to begin at midnight Monday as Hurricane Sandy begins its trek into our area. A flood watch will also go into effect starting late tonight and extending through Tuesday evening. Today we've only had a light drizzle and some wind off the storm. All the shopping has been done, our gas tanks are full and the rain-gutters are cleaned out again. The only thing we don't have is extra batteries, but I think we'll be okay.
The dogs are of course totally oblivious to the preparation going on around them. Twice this weekend CarrieAnne has disappeared and found the same thing to roll in, which has meant two baths for her.
While we were giving CarrieAnne a bath this afternoon I noticed Todd standing there watching with a little sparkle in his eye. I had to think that he was just happy that it wasn't him!
I have a feeling Carrie would have traded places with him.
With the storm coming, I know that none of you wants to trade places with us, but I do hope that those of you who are in its path will be safe!
I pray you and your homestead will stay safe and warm. I see you mention only lacking batteries, thank goodness you have dog food stocked up (your dogs wanted me to say that LOL).
ReplyDeleteOh silly Carrie, she doesn't learn her lesson does she?!
ReplyDeleteKeep safe, Kim, I'll be thinking of you.
xx
be safe my friend..... been typing this a few times today!
ReplyDeleteCarrie Ann, everyone knows that one must roll in something after a bath in order to disguise that clean smell! Humans. Sheesh!!
ReplyDeleteBart and Ruby
Lovely photos ! The storm is heading up the east coast and we are right in its path in Southwestern Ontario, flood warnings have been issued as we it is cold and been raining since Fri and to keep raining all week . Stay safe and batten down the hatches ! Have a good evening !
ReplyDeletePoor Carrie. I wonder why dogs insist on rolling in nasty things?
ReplyDeleteGill in Canada
We hope you're safe and Sandy isn't as bad as predicted.
ReplyDeleteRoxy is our roller....she just can't help herself, doesn't matter how many baths she gets. Sounds like Carrie-Anne is the same.
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
I do hope that the storm won't be too destructive, although somehow by the look on the news, that's just my wishful thinking. Hoping everyone keeps safe..... ann.
ReplyDeleteBB's rolled in some stinky stuff lately, too. it must be an autumn thing - critters dying or something. :)
ReplyDeletebe safe with your entire crew!!!
I can see Todd's sparkle in his eye. Sort of a laughing sparkle. Keep safe and warm.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,

Stay safe! I just saw that up by our cabin there is a high wind advisory due to the storm. I guess it is reaching all the way back to northern Michigan.
ReplyDeleteBatten down the hatches my friend! You and the pups stay safe and warm!
ReplyDeleteSending you our love and good thoughts.
xo Catherine
Oh those silly dogs... Stay safe!!!
ReplyDeleteHello Kim
ReplyDeleteIt's been such an unbelievable long time since last I was here... but I think of you so often! The kind of words you have left in the past... I know you're one who knows the kind of feelings I often live with (sometimes trying to rescue the almost in advance lost causes). I'm so behind with the stories of your crew but I hope all is happy and well - and you too!! Hope you stay safe.
Love from Greece,
Joan
Sometimes the dogs just don't learn, or maybe she just likes to be bathed.
ReplyDeleteThe storm passed us with high winds here in Miami, Florida. Thankfully only lots of rain for 2 days non-stop and winds for about 4. Finally today there is calmness here. We are getting a cold front. Of course cold for us is the mid 60's although they say it will be in the mid 50's. We'll see. Hope we do get a nice cold front for a couple of days.
Be safe. hopefully Sandy will not be a big threat to you all.
Ana
Hi Kim and the Goldies!
ReplyDeleteYou east coast people are ALL in our prayers and especially you and the Goldies.
So Carrie Anne is a roller, huh? I have had only one dog in my life that was a committed roller, and you can hardly keep them from it. (Not Stella, by the way)
Cheers, hugs and prayers,
Jo, Stella and Zkhat
Prayers for all of you in the path of this storm. We will be thinking of you, as well as praying for your safety.
ReplyDeleteYou guys be safe!!!

I was thinking about you today as we prepare....we are on the coast of ma....we look out across a marsh to a barrier beach....it is very scary....I'll be sending lots of prayers your way....xxxxxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteWe hope that you are safe too.
ReplyDeleteTake care,

Our weather forecast is very similar. Not looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteHope all goes well at Golden Pines.

Hi Y'all!
ReplyDeleteOur paws are crossed for you and yours.
My Humans had some appointments this week so thought they'd miss the worst of Sandy by escaping into the mountains but she is so huge she has left us with freezing rain and dropping temps. Tomorrow morning they have to go to the city which means crossing even higher elevations. They are calling for snows and and freezing temps for the next three days. All the Humans can say that they hope they can get back home to the shore on Thursday.
It looks like there is no escaping Sandy and its rath!
Y'all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Stay safe. We'll be thinking of you and all who are in harm's way.
ReplyDeleteIt's always right around the collar, isn't it?
We expect to get hit by Sandy too...just a few hours after you do. I hope CarrieAnne enjoyed her roll in the stinky stuff to be subjected to two baths.
ReplyDeleteCindy
Praying that you all will be safe. ♥
ReplyDeleteStay safe, Kim, and all at your place. Batten down, keep the fire going, all animals inside, and I hope you will weather this storm without troubles.I will think of you, Monday your time, and watch the news down here. Greetings from Jean, with many thoughts of love and care coming your way.
ReplyDeleteStay safe, my friend. Todd is too funny with that sparkle in his eye.
ReplyDeleteStay safe.

Naughty Carrie Anne !
ReplyDeleteThinking of you across the pond - Hurricaine Sandy is on the news here. Keep safe xx
CarrieAnne seems to be smiling in spite of her ill fate.. and Todd's probably wondering why in the world you keep wiping away CarrieAnne's awesome smell.. lol.
ReplyDeleteI guess we'll be getting some of Sandy's wind and rain here too. Schools are already closed. Stay safe Kim! At least if the electric goes off you have lots of warm bodies to keep you warm. If ours were to go off, I can imagine that Gracie would choose that time to want to be 'alone'. Always the rebellious child.
that's the sweetest smilin'est dog!
ReplyDeleteeven getting a bath.
of course she's LOVING that icky smell she rolled in.
i hope you fare well dear heart.
it's like waiting for a huge monster to slowly tromp your way.
stay safe.

Hoping all things stay safe for you and the doggies. We are getting lots of rain right now. No wind yet. Just hoping we maintain the power.
ReplyDeleteAlways a joy to come here and see what everyone is up to! Although we are in Amsterdam, CNN is doing a fine job covering the action ... hope you aren't hit hard as well as us.
ReplyDeleteHope things aren't as bad as they are saying it will get.. at least the leaves will be gone.. so Carl won't have to rake as much.. be safe.. just going to get wind here
ReplyDeleteMy little Lucy had to have three baths in one day when she insisted on chasing frogs into the scummy pond. They don't seem to learn.
ReplyDeletestay safe....Ill be thinking of you too
ReplyDeletePraying for safety for you, hubby and the Golden Pines Pack.
ReplyDeleteI am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, keep safe there at Golden Pines !

Kim, Hoping that you didn't have too much damage from the storm and that it is passed now. CarrieAnne reminds me of what Hunter looked like this past weekend. Sending love to you today; stay safe.

Poor Carrie Ann. The girl just won't learn. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you all made it through safely. We are very fortunate to have only lost power - no flooding or damage.
Hope you & your gang made it safely through Sandy. We survived in PA thankfully too! Love CarrieAnne's look while bathing her!

Sampson doesn't mind a bath, but Delilah hates it.
ReplyDeleteI know you had some damage from the storm, but hope you are all safe and well on the way to 'back to normal.' Hugs to the Golden Pines Crew! xoxo
I hope you guys are OK, I've been thinking of you. And I did read about CarrieAnne's roll in the mud or whatever that was on Gracie's blog. As usual, she had something to say.
ReplyDeleteWe hope you survived the storm ok! We sending you good basset-y vibes.
