CarrieAnne and the Storm

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for our county to begin at midnight Monday as Hurricane Sandy begins its trek into our area. A flood watch will also go into effect starting late tonight and extending through Tuesday evening.  Today we've only had a light drizzle and some wind off the storm.  All the shopping has been done, our gas tanks are full and the rain-gutters are cleaned out again. The only thing we don't have is extra batteries, but I think we'll be okay.

The dogs are of course totally oblivious to the preparation going on around them. Twice this weekend CarrieAnne has disappeared and found the same thing to roll in, which has meant two baths for her.
While we were giving CarrieAnne a bath this afternoon I noticed Todd standing there watching with a little sparkle in his eye.  I had to think that he was just happy that it wasn't him!
I have a feeling Carrie would have traded places with him.
With the storm coming, I know that none of you wants to trade places with us, but I do hope that those of you who are in its path will be safe!

  1. I pray you and your homestead will stay safe and warm. I see you mention only lacking batteries, thank goodness you have dog food stocked up (your dogs wanted me to say that LOL).

  4. Carrie Ann, everyone knows that one must roll in something after a bath in order to disguise that clean smell! Humans. Sheesh!!

  7. We hope you're safe and Sandy isn't as bad as predicted.

Roxy is our roller....she just can't help herself, doesn't matter how many baths she gets. Sounds like Carrie-Anne is the same.

  8. I do hope that the storm won't be too destructive, although somehow by the look on the news, that's just my wishful thinking. Hoping everyone keeps safe..... ann.

  15. Hello Kim
It's been such an unbelievable long time since last I was here... but I think of you so often! The kind of words you have left in the past... I know you're one who knows the kind of feelings I often live with (sometimes trying to rescue the almost in advance lost causes). I'm so behind with the stories of your crew but I hope all is happy and well - and you too!! Hope you stay safe.

  16. Sometimes the dogs just don't learn, or maybe she just likes to be bathed.
The storm passed us with high winds here in Miami, Florida. Thankfully only lots of rain for 2 days non-stop and winds for about 4. Finally today there is calmness here. We are getting a cold front. Of course cold for us is the mid 60's although they say it will be in the mid 50's. We'll see. Hope we do get a nice cold front for a couple of days.
Be safe. hopefully Sandy will not be a big threat to you all.

  17. Hi Kim and the Goldies!

You east coast people are ALL in our prayers and especially you and the Goldies.

So Carrie Anne is a roller, huh? I have had only one dog in my life that was a committed roller, and you can hardly keep them from it. (Not Stella, by the way)

    Cheers, hugs and prayers,

    Jo, Stella and Zkhat

  25. Hi Y'all!

Our paws are crossed for you and yours.

My Humans had some appointments this week so thought they'd miss the worst of Sandy by escaping into the mountains but she is so huge she has left us with freezing rain and dropping temps. Tomorrow morning they have to go to the city which means crossing even higher elevations. They are calling for snows and and freezing temps for the next three days. All the Humans can say that they hope they can get back home to the shore on Thursday.

It looks like there is no escaping Sandy and its rath!

    Y'all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

Thinking of you across the pond - Hurricaine Sandy is on the news here. Keep safe xx

  36. CarrieAnne seems to be smiling in spite of her ill fate.. and Todd's probably wondering why in the world you keep wiping away CarrieAnne's awesome smell.. lol.

I guess we'll be getting some of Sandy's wind and rain here too. Schools are already closed. Stay safe Kim! At least if the electric goes off you have lots of warm bodies to keep you warm. If ours were to go off, I can imagine that Gracie would choose that time to want to be 'alone'. Always the rebellious child.
