The Idea of Calm

Harried and hurried was the theme of the past week!  I'll spare the grueling details and just say that I felt a little bit like Todd in the picture below!  Any spare time was practically non existent and so it was a huge relief when Friday finally arrived!!
Lucas returned to see the dentist on Wednesday.  And unfortunately he wasn't happy about being there.  But as expected the dentist is recommending that the sore tooth be removed along with the 3 remaining others.  The rescue has approved the procedure, and so an appointment will be made for it to be done next week.
The antibiotics have done their job and Lucas is back to his carefree self, and is back to work stalking the cat.  Some of you asked about how he eats.  Lucas eats a dehydrated dog-food-mix that when water is added, becomes a porridge, and to that I add a little bit of dry-kibble. It's a very healthy diet that has worked well for him.  In the past year Lucas has gained almost 15 pounds (about 7 kg) of much needed weight.
Today calm is the order of the day, and I think that Todd who was groomed this week, shows that perfectly!  And even though our house by definition can be the farthest thing from calm, I love the idea of it, don't you?

  1. Sending healing thoughts for Lucas. Praying that he is better after his dental.

    Have a great, relaxing weekend!

  2. I had a very old cat once with no teeth and he managed amazingly well!

  3. I agree! Make sure YOU get some calm too, Kim!

  4. How about that Lucas~!
I hope have a chance to really enjoy the weekend....calmly.

  5. Yeah! Glad to hear Lucas can be helped!! And Tod-well he'd just a handsome rascal!
    Wishing you calm and peace!!!

  6. I think the "hecticness" on the house is much calmer and way better than the hectic world. I'd take it over that any day. I mean whats more calming than hanging with the dogs. I am hard pressed to think of anything.

  7. Sweet gracie has to do the porridge type dining due to her mega esophagus. Todd looks so charming in that last photo. Have a calm weekend Kim and pack.

  8. Really pleased the antibiotics helped Lucas, yay! I think it was pretty certain that the teeth, or at least the upsetting tooth, would have to come out. Hopefully this coming week everything in the world of Golden Pines will be calm.

  9. We are sending hugs for Lucas - we are glad he is feeling better!

...and we hope you have a peaceful weekend.

  10. Poor Lucas. It's not fun to have teeth pulled, but I'm sure he'll feel better once they're gone.

Calm. With two 14 week old pups in the house, calm is an unknown entity. Yesterday they did take a super long nap and it was quiet for about three hours. Heavenly!

  11. Glad to hear that Lucas is doing better..sore teeth are not fun, poor baby.

  13. Glad Lucas is going to be ok and porridge with kibble I am sure he must enjoy!
    Love leanne

  14. Todd!! Looking exceedingly handsome, dude!!

Hoping Lucas feels better soon and that you get some "down/stay" time this weekend!

  15. It so good that antibiotics are taking care of infection and Lucas can get the rest of those teeth out! They have been a bother.

Todd looks much sharper with his pretty ears and neat trim!

PS: I make more typos while on the net than writing...

  16. such fine looking little gentlemen.
lucas in his bottom picture looks almost grand.
    and todd . . . well . . .
you can tell todd is thinkin'
    "i'm pretty darned cute!"
i'm so glad lucas will be out of that bad tooth pain soon. I had a 'dry socket' once after a tooth removal and I literally wanted somebody to shoot me. have never known such pain in my life. and I normally have a pretty high threshold for any pain.
probably why the pictures of him sleeping always holding his head touched me so.
    xo dear heart.
    find some rest for YOU!

  17. poor lucas, having to go thru that again. but so glad he's feeling better (and hopefully, after the procedure, will continue to do so!)

  18. I am so happy for Lucas. I still imagine him on the city streets with all those bad teeth (something I can relate to). Maybe it is time for a beauty salon trip for you? Todd looks so spiffy and I think it would do you some good to just get spoiled a bit too. Peace.

  19. Todd looks so very dapper and dashing! :) And i'm sending healing wishes and many hugs to Lucas from Oregon!

  20. Oh, calm sounds mighty good to me! I'm glad to be getting away from it all today and just enjoy time with my husband and the dogs. Fortunately, it's a three day weekend for me, and I plan to make the most of it!

  21. Poor Lucas. Hopefully, he'll be feeling better soon.

Todd is just too handsome for words.

    XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy

  22. Hi Y'all!

My Humans relish "calm". As for myself...calm moments are okay, but I much prefer the "go, go, go".

Thanks for stoppin' for a visit.

    Y'all come back now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

  23. Your hairy friends are so cute! Give them hugs from me. Have a calm weekend!

  24. Sometimes you only have two days of an uproar, but it seems to color the whole week, doesn't it?

Glad Lucas will have his bad teeth gone, and will feel so much better.
I have even known a couple of toothless humans who got along fine without them.

Hooray for that handsome little devil dog, Todd, who is just looking around for something to DO!

    Jo, Stella and Zkhat

  25. Hi Kim, hope you can relax a little this weekend.....Todd is a handsome fellow......So happy Lucas is back to feeling better....Good news...,Hugs Francine.

  26. Glad that Lucas will have them teeth fied and its going well. Yep Todd has it right, "Remain Calm at All Times, Quit All That Yelling" unless its a Terrier being a Tterrier tearing stuff up, you show em Todd!

  27. The idea of calm can be enough sometimes.
So glad Lucas is feeling better and back to cat stalking! Look at how good he looks now as compared to when you first got him Kim! WOW> He has a beautiful coat.

  28. Khyra and Khousin Harley will offer their help with khat stalking!

    Paws crossed for Lucas!

He could come to Khamp Khyra for recovery ;-)

  29. The idea of calm is a relative thing, isn't it? Have a great weekend. And good luck to Lucas.

  30. awww.. I hope you get some much needed rest.. We have been running ragged ourselves...and loving every minute of it...

  31. I'm so glad that sweet Lucas is feeling better but I'm sorry that he has to lose those last few teeth. Poor guy.

Yes, the idea of calm is very enticing. Love that Todd photo!

  32. Phew, hope Lucas feels a-okay soon.

Does Todd like his spa time?

  33. Good old Lucas . Amazing how quickly dogs adjust to changes. Here's hoping he has a speedy recovery !

  34. Wishing 'calm' for you and the pups all weekend Kim!
    xo Catherine

  35. Calm? What is this calm of which you speak?

  36. Woof! Woof! Hope you are a having a calm Sunday. Saw in FB the banana bread you baked. Mmmmm YUM TASTY! I bet Todd enjoyed his bath. Golden LOVE. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

  37. Poor Lucas. Glad he's feeling better. It's a shame he'll have to have the rest of his teeth pulled, though. Hope everything goes well.

  38. Howdy Mates, sorry about Lucas losing his last teeth butt sounds like he chows down with the best of them!! Calm, yes, mum loves calm too! She finds it calming hehe. We try and let her have a little calm each day, just a little mind you hehe. Hope your weekend was a good one. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

  39. I hope all goes well this coming week - it will be a great relief for Lucas to have it fixed. We've got a similar problem to be fixed tomorrow, only I don't know the full extent of it (if it's more than one tooth).
As for calm... I think since we reached 30 cats (more than a year ago) calm doesn't really exist in our vocabulary anymore, but I remember the sense of it very fondly!!
    Take care,

  40. Todd says it all in the last picture, Kim!

  41. oh we loved every shingle photo on this post. But yes, that last picture of Todd is beautiful

  42. Calm is always welcome, but seems in short supply lately!
    Have a blessed week!

  43. I'm glad Lucas is feeling better. No doubt when the rest of those teeth come out he'll be like a new dog!

  44. Get to feeling better Lucas!
