Blog-Writers-Block and a Milestone

~Charlie~
Do you ever get writers block when trying to come up with something to blog about? Well, if so, I can assure you, that you're not alone. I’ve been a blogging mess lately. And if the truth be told, for the last several weeks, I have been completely stymied when it comes to my blog.
Writer’s block?
Yep. I’ve got it.
I know, it's crazy because I have plenty of things I can write a post about; the dogs, my flowers, even the weather...
But when I sit down to write a post, the blank screen mocks me, practically daring me to come up with something.
And I can't......So I don't.....
So while I'm waiting for clouds to clear, here's just a snippet of what we've been up to while I've not been fully with you.

I made a delicious Raspberry-buttermilk cake for a co-workers birthday.
And we just passed a humbling milestone. Last week marked 14 years ago that we adopted our very first dog from the Golden Retriever Rescue.  That dog as you may know is Wendy.  At about 16 years old, I worry about her, especially when she has days that aren't the best.  But for now those days are outnumbered by the good ones and for that I am extremely grateful for what I consider 'extra time' with her.
My work week has ended and last evening we went to a friends house to watch our town's fireworks.  It was a block party and I'd forgotten how enjoyable it can be to get together with neighbors.
Our July 4th holiday will be spent here at home. With a few things planned for the rest of the weekend and a co-workers wedding on Saturday, I'm hoping that those proverbial clouds will clear and my blog-writers block will pass. On a walk with the dogs this morning, and now that I'm almost done with this post, I think they just may be.
~Cissy~
I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable 4th!

  4. Hi Kim and pack, I can so relate to this post-lately I feel like my posts are just so boring!!! I don't have nearly the pretty photos I'd like; what is funny is that when I come here to your posts, I'd never know you are having a hard time writing. I love each and every post you share. Love your pups and your flowers. Have a wonderful weekend my friend!

  5. Happy fourth, Kim and Co.

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger with blog block, its the story of my life. We live such a sedate life here, me, Stella and Zkhat, that its hard to write about anything we do. So we just keep on keeping on!

Cheers and hugs to you and your pups, especially Wendy today!

  7. Hi Kim
We always feel better when bloggers or friends share their honesty about the hurdles they are either blocked by or climbing over- because it really makes us feel not so alone when we feel the same way. We have felt that way for a long time, and the longer we wait to write- the harder it is.
We are so happy Wendy continues to enjoy life. That is what its all about- enjoying life - right?
Its so great you were able to mingle with friends last night---sharing joy and good times.
And looking at that cake makes our mouth just want some now.
We all go through these blocks.. and it makes us feel good to see you crawling over yours,,, now we need to do the same!
    Beautiful photos Kim!

  12. Yes, I've had writers block several times. I usually have to take some time to destress with favorite hobbies or just lots of dog time.

Enjoy your time and we'll still be here when you come back to the blog.

  18. Well that was a pretty awesome writer's-block-non-post-post! :) I love to see photos of your wonderful dogs. And that raspberry milk cake looks moist, delicious and just plain divine. Seriously though, i know what you mean by writer's block. I really do. It's not fun. It's irritating, and makes me think i can't think...

  20. Hi Y'all!

I don't know how it is where you are but we are in the mountains for the Fourth and basically lazing around listening to the heavy rains and the roar of the creek that is flooding out of its banks. All the counties on this side of the Continental Divide are under flood warnings.

Hope y'all are safe and dry!

    Y'all come back now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

P.S. I'm a dog, so I don't even know what writers block means.

  24. Happy Anniversary and can I say WOW?! Wendy has been one lucky golden girl to have lived with you for so long!!

I am there too, Kim... with the blogger block. But I keep plugging away, trying to keep the pace.

Loved seeing Charlie's sweet face ;-)

  25. Kim...I have not missed a day of posting in 5 and a half years. When I am out of gas, I often post photos and don't write a single word. The people who follow me get it. Ha ha.
Don't put the squeeze on yourself...anything you write whenever is just fine! Great photos by the way.

  26. Hi Kim - I must say I have not even noticed you have bloggers block. I have been enjoying hearing about your little furry ones. Congratulations to Wendy; what a special little girl she is. Luigi puppy is very big now (7 months old) and is definitely the 'naughtiest' dog I have ever had! He can turn on the garden tap with his paw, open the front door and let himself out and his latest ability is standing on his hind legs and stretching his neck until he can nibble on my hanging baskets. He is very very cute and so loving and cuddly. Have found Doris Day music and a bit of Strauss calms him down - lol! Have a good weekend. Lily. xxx

  27. I get that block too! Look > < there it is. lol.

Seriously, I do know what you mean, but from my point of view, a blogger reading along, I would enjoy seeing just photos if you get the writer block bit. Seeing your garden, and the crew is wonderful. As is that yummy looking cake recipe. ツ

  28. Sounds like you and I go through similar spells ... too wrapped up in LIVING life to be able to draw back a bit and WRITE about it. Remember, not all blog posts are going to be Pulitzer Prize worthy. Some are light on content, some are more substantial ... but ALL of them are enjoyable to those of us who read each and every one of them. (It's especially pleasing to see such sweet dog faces!)

  29. I would say you are pulling the wool over our eyes with this so-called 'writer's block' right?!

Not bad for nothing to say!

    HAPPY 4th!

Pstt: great laughs last night...Jim was having a great time!!

  33. That's why I have so many days between posts. What to post about when every day is the same?
Sleep, get up, eat mow the grass, check the gardens, do the dishes or laundry, buy some stuff... You know exactly what I mean. Haha.

Have a wonderful weekend, all of you! ♥

  34. When you get writers block just post pictures. That is what I do. No writing required. Love the one's on this post!

Hope you had a nice 4th. A very happy birthday to Wendy! What a beautiful senior!
