Once home, changed and cooled off, I decided that it was time for me to see if there were baby rabbits in our yard. I've been seeing this rabbit in about the same spot for more than a week.
Leaving the dogs on the porch, the nest was easy enough to find because it wasn't covered. Not wanting to get too close, I very, very quickly snapped a photo and left. Suffice it to say, I will worry about these little ones until I know they are safely gone from the nest.
Enjoy your Sunday!!
Baby bunnies are cute, but they do cause problems when they get trapped in our fenced in yard. Could you tell how many were piled up in their nest?
ReplyDeleteCindy
Sam used to catch them when he was younger, and would bring them to me completely unharmed. Our first Golden used to smuggle them into the house, as well as birds, and then just let them go. BOL - gotta love the pups!
ReplyDeleteSam
Oh so sweet! We have a baby bunny in our yard right now. He's growing fast. I am enjoying watching him.
ReplyDeleteWishing you, the pups, the bunnies and everything cuddly a terrific weekend Kim!

Happy Golden Pines Porch. LOVE the flowers. Happy Sunday. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteoh, the pups are adorable in their 'jail'. yup, those bunnies wouldn't last very long...
ReplyDeleteThose baby bunnies are so sweet...Good of you to care for them enough to keep them safe from the pups
ReplyDeleteOh, lookit those sweet baby bunnies! I love them. That's one brave bunny to have a nest in a dog yard.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a little girl our cats would bring in baby rabbits. It broke my heart.
ReplyDeleteI will be seeing babies Coons any day now>> The rabbits are just precious!!! The dogs have been leaving the rabbits alone???
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, I'm glad you survived the outdoor wedding. I have to tell you that I love bunnies but prefer them to stay out of my yard. The last one that came in, Hunter almost caught and I also worry he will get bit or scratched(probably very painful). Those babies are so cute.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing; have a great evening.
Hugs, Noreen
Sweet rabbits and your dogs look so eager to run and explore. But of course you are keeping them away from the baby rabbits. Outdoor weddings can be lovely, weather permitting.
ReplyDeleteOh how wonderful that you have baby bunnies at your place! :) So sweet. And your dogs look quite curious. Why are you leaving us here, Mom? I love your photo the the babies, and glad you got it. I love the one of your dogs just as much!
ReplyDeleteLove the cute bunny, it is cool you have a bunny nest there. I love seeing your dog altogether on the porch. They all look so cute! Stay cool and have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteWe have a little bunny too. I just love seeing the dogs on the porch - so adorable. My goodness, I can't imagine an outdoor wedding in this heat. Yikes! Hopefully all went well with the happy couple. Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteAfternoon Kim, oh how sweet the nest of baby bunnies are, almost nothing cuter then a baby bunny......Around here all the outdoor cats kill the sweet defenslice small bunnies, love cats but wish people would keep them indoors, they re born killers, always on the hunt even if not hungry, kinda sad.......Your porch is beautiful, don't think the dogs will mind, :) Keep Cool, Francine.
ReplyDeleteAww, those babies are sweet, love the picture of the dogs looking on.
ReplyDeleteWe think Todd (the Westie) might be getting some ideas--about baby bunnies! Hope they grow up quickly.
ReplyDeleteXXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
I'm sure the bride and groom were thinking as they sweat - that they should have eloped in an air conditioned car.
ReplyDeleteBaby Bunnies! I hope the poor things make it okay.
I hope your day was restful!
Gorgeous flowers and such sweet babies!
ReplyDeleteHowdy Mates, sorry it's been so hot for you. How long does it take the baby rabbits to leave their little nest? They are very cute. LOVED the photo of you all on the deck checking everything out.
ReplyDeleteNo worries, and love, Stella and Rory
"Tod the Westie!! BOL!! I was thinking the same thing, though...
ReplyDeleteGood thing you have that porch...especially with Todd. All our bunnies have vanished along with my neighbors cat with the arrival of the eagles . Thank goodness the river is close!!!....:)JP
ReplyDeleteYou're doing the right thing if keeping those bunnies around is your plan. Don't think your puppy dogs have the same feeling tho. Love the pics.
ReplyDeleteBaby bunnies! :) hope they stay safe!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! I hope the bunnies make it too. Dogs seem to love them in the wrong way.
ReplyDeleteWe usually have some, but come to think about it, I have not seen any this year. I guess I could have planted the lettuce after all.
ReplyDeleteThat was a lovely flower combination.
Oh, they are so cute!!

I agree. Wonderful photos.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week, Kim. ♥
I have such a hard time doing anything outdoors when it's this hot. Glad you survived the wedding and then cooled off. I have a very similar picture of baby bunnies that we found in our yard some years back. They're so cute! I just love your porch pictures! I want to be there!!
ReplyDeleteohhh the baby bunnies are precious!

I'll bet the dogs knew ALL about the rabbit nest long before you did. It's been a bumper-crop year for rabbits here. Rabbits are so low on the food chain, they make only the most basic and bare 'nest' and only visit the babies once per day. (Ruby chased down and caught an adult rabbit the other night ... gosh, she's fast!)
ReplyDeleteOh rabbits ! What joy !
ReplyDeleteThey are actually in an area where the dogs can get them? And Todd hasn't found them yet? Yikes, I'd worry about those babies too!
ReplyDeleteBaby bunnies! Thank you for trying to keep them safe. Silly mama! A yard full of pups is not the best location to have babies!
ReplyDeleteWe have a nest of bunnies too but fortunately they're outside the fence. The dogs know they're there but can't get to them.
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteI just love little baby bunnies.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful photos.
Love you blue hydrangea near your deck.
The crew looks happy and healthy.
Sorry I haven't been blogging for awhile just haven't got my mojo back, but I still love to visit your site.
there is just something about rabbits.
ReplyDeleteeven the word bunny! it's just joyful to me.
i hope they can be safe til they're able to hop away safely!
maybe cc is the most eminent threat! even more than the dogs.
xo stay cool dear heart.
My grandparents had baby bunnies in their lilly patch one summer and my cousins and I loved watching them!
ReplyDeleteOMD - I love your porch pictures the best with all those beautiful faces looking at you :) That is cool you got to see the babies in their nest. I hope they do okay too!
ReplyDeleteHope the babies are doing OK. Usually the hawks show up around here whenever we see the little ones.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know rabbit's nests are so unprotected, yikes! Hope they grow and hop away soon. I love the photo of all those golden faces looking at you so patiently from the porch :)
ReplyDeleteI almost feel so sorry for the dogs, as they wait forlornly and wistfully on the porch. It was very thoughtful of you to have the welfare of the bunnies at heart. Hope they get to leave the nest soon.
ReplyDeleteOmigoodness! What adorable baby bunnies! And your statement about the wedding made me BOL!!

Wow, what cute bunnies! They look so exposed that I'd worry about them too. Perhaps they are counting on your yard to keep them safe (your dogs and fences will keep predators from coming in?). Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteI bet the babies will be on the move before long!
