~Cricket~ |
I'd hoped the Niece and I could get together because I'd wanted to give her Cricket's remains. Knowing how much she and her family loved Cricket, I felt strongly that she should be returned to those that loved her first. I found it so fitting when the Niece told me she was going to spread Cricket's ashes at Flossie's grave-site. We both agreed that there could not be a more perfect place.
On a much lighter note, we had our "post adoption visit" today from Lab Rescue for Georgie. His adoption contract said that it wouldn't be "official" until the rescue was satisfied that he is settling in and doing okay. Not knowing what to expect, I made sure everything from the smallest detail on the inside and the outside was in perfect order. The volunteer came, greeted Georgie and the rest of the dogs, (Todd was tucked away in his crate) asked a couple of questions, and in 10 minutes tops, she was gone. I was glad I'd not gone through a lot of trouble. As you can see in the photo below, Georgie was still excited about her visit after she left.
georgie makes me smile. :) so glad you and the niece reconnected. how very special to reunite cricket with flossie. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat would tempt the loving , and lovely Georgie to have a smidgen of a smile? He is gorgeous, nevertheless, and for Cricket, a so fitting finish to be there with her so loved Flossie. Down here little Boris has fitted in with us as if always, Felicity spits and hisses, and stray Ginger Boy is slightly interested. How much can our lives change when a new little person comes to stay? Hugs to you all.
ReplyDeleteDoes Georgie ever get excited?!?
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful that the niece will place the remains with Cricket's mom. Something I'd want done for me someday.
So glad beloved Cricket's remains will be so near Flossie. And glad the visit went well.
ReplyDeleteThat is a nice resting place for Cricket's ashes, and I like your handsome new family member, who has a serious expression.

ReplyDeleteHow sweet of Cricket's owners niece to meet with you and want to spread the ashes around Flossie's site. I have laughed so hard reading the part of Georgie being excited about the visit. LOL. Ana

ReplyDeleteCrikey .... you had to HIDE Todd????? Is he THAT bad??????? Dear Georgie ..... he sure likes to hide his emotions, aye??
ReplyDeleteIt's always wonderful to remember those that have departed and yet remain so fresh in our memories.

Georgie looks as though he has the weight of the world on his shoulders. Such a contrast from the beautiful Cricket.
ReplyDeleteThe visit with Crickets owners is nice, I am glad she will have a perfect resting spot. And Georgie needs to contain his excitement, you think? He is a sweetie, glad everything went well with the post adoption visit. Have a happy day and week ahead!
ReplyDeleteGeorgie seems to be contemplating great thoughts and will spring into action as soon as he has designed a plan for world peace.

ReplyDelete"gosh oh golly, I like it here!"
Post-adoption visit is a great idea ... probably as important as that initial home visit prior to fostering or adopting. I'm pretty sure that the rep put something like "Georgie found doggie Heaven" in her report.
ReplyDeletegeorgie is the dark and handsome silent type. still waters run very deep.
ReplyDeletelike a gentle bear he is.

Georgie's enthusiasm just cracks me up. He hasn't read the job description of Labs. They're supposed to be bouncy nut jobs. I'm glad you and he passed the test.

ReplyDeleteDear Kim;
ReplyDeleteI have so missed reading about and sharing your adventures with all your wonderful fur friends and I have finally found my way back to Blogger after a long sabbatical. No point in going into details but life has a way of disrupting the best laid plans as I am sure you know! I am saddened to read about your recent losses but I know those sweet babies had a wonderful finish to their lives because of you! I hope someday when I again have a place of my own I can offer a home to a few older pals who would not mind being loved on! Love and kisses to all...
Tina xoxo
