Nothing and Something

The first of two days off this week and I was up early and on the road to the dermatologist with Buddy.
~Buddy, my co-pilot~
He had a recheck of a pretty ugly ear infection that's only marginally better. A culture was done and maybe new medications for him when the results are returned next week. The good news continues to be that the Apoquel that Buddy is taking for his allergies is still working really well for him. We both couldn't be happier!
Afterwards there was time to stop at one of the local farmers markets.
I prefer the no frills markets.
I think they let the fruit and vegetables speak for themselves.
Back at home for a mid-day walk and lunch.
~Sunny, unaware I've taken his photo~
I did pretty much nothing the rest of the day,
~Sheba~
Todd on the other hand, of course, always finds something!

  1. Of course Todd finds something. If a Scottie can't find mischief, he creates it.

  2. Glad to see that Buddy's allergies are clearing up well. I sure hope his new medicine for his ear infection works well. Is he really itchy and does he need a special diet? I am just curious. I know he must be feeling better from when he first came to you. It looks as though he enjoyed his one on one with you.
    Those veggie look wonderful!

    1. Hello! First of all, THANK YOU for your kind words on my last post about Sunny. As you know, I have no regrets. Keeping him was the right thing to do.

As for Buddy, yes, he is on a special diet that is a commercial kibble that is limited ingredients, fish with peas as the binder instead of potatoes as many are. He was really, really itchy all over when he first came to us with swollen watery eyes from rubbing his face and he had to wear an e-collar because he would pull out his hair, and always was chewing on himself. His first foster home had him on 15 (yes fifteen!!!!!) benedryl a day and about 4 other medications. YIKES!! Then of course there were the baths 3-4 times a week. Now he's down to 2-3 pills a day, one being apoquel which is one daily. Quite a change, and he of course is much happier -- He's a pretty silly dog!!

The veggies were great -- My favorite are the fresh tomatoes, one I bought, I ate like an apple -- Delicious! :-)

Hope you're having a good week! Thanks as always for your kind, supportive comments, and cyber-friendship!

Thanks for the information concerning Buddy. Wow 15 Benadryl! How great that he is doing so well with less medicine.I laughed at your story about cleaning his mouth, when come to find out, his hair was growing in on his muzzle. Hysterical!
So glad, Sunny is doing well(:

  8. Buddy seems to like riding shotgun. Such a sweet face. Nice to see Sheba acting so frisky, she is a pretty girl. Todd likes to pose, huh? (And obviously Sunny doesn't)

  9. just look at buddy's face.
that's the thing about dogs ... and goldens in particular...
even when they're miserable. or hurting. they still manage that smile.
    or a wag.
on our news last night was a horrific case of animal abuse. the reporter was in the shelter where the poor darling had been taken and was being treated. someone had taken some of his skin off one side in a large area.
with a knife???? or burned??? who knows.
he had to be in excruciating pain.
he looked up into the camera and WAGGED HIS TAIL.
faintly. and weakly. but the wag was there. just incredible.
ohmygod. they teach us more about humanity than any human ever could.
no matter how exalted the human is. WELL.
except for the lady who owns this blog. now SHE is pretty right up there exalted in my book!!! :)

  21. Buddy looks happy in spite of all his itches, just hope he's soon better. Good to know Todd's up to his usual antics, while Charlie is busy with overseeing those kittens. We wonder how Georgie is too, maybe he's a little less grumpy these days?

  26. Hi Y'all!

Summer is waning. So wonderful to enjoy farm markets. The foods and fruits get the most plentiful and taste best just as summer ends.

    Y'all come on by,
