It's All About Charlie!

Two scoldings at the groomers  yesterday.  One from Irina (groomer) who reminded me when I came to pick Charlie up, about his weight and to not wait 4 months to bring him back.  The other from Charlie telling me that he'd had a really difficult day at the spa and could we please go through the drive-thru at McDonalds for a cheeseburger--Okay, I was hungry and figured that's what he would have said...But since he is the star of our household and much of the time the world revolves around him, one thing is for sure, he really did want to hear that he smelled wonderful and looked great!

Personally, I can never decide which look of Charlie's I like the best.  I really love shaggy-dogs (who doesn't?) but then there's his appearance when he's fresh from the groomers that does seem a bit more polished.  What do you think?

  1. He's a cutie, for sure. When one of my 5 go to the vet, I often go thru the McDonald's drive thru to get 5 cheeseburgers so each get a treat to celebrate a successful doctor visit. :)

  2. oh, I have never ever had a breed of dog-in all my years of rescues and adoptions-that was shave-able.
    i envy you.
I love me a shaved dog. I just do.

  8. I forgot what he looked like under all that fur! If the dogs are getting shaved it must be a sure sign of spring!! :)

  9. He's a handsome fellow, either groomed or shaggy. You can tell in that last picture that he thinks he's pretty hot stuff!

  12. Either way I think he is simply adorable but I do enjoy seeing his loving eyes. We are having beautiful weather too but snow is in the forecast-however I am ready for spring. Enjoy your warm days.

  13. Charlie looks like a totally different dog! I'll wait for a couple weeks for his fur to grow a bit, perhaps it will 'soften' his look. Whatever it is, he is a good looking boy and he looks good in any hairdo!

Gorgeous Charlie boy... you are one gorgeous looking fella!

    Love,

  15. I'm the same. I love my pack long and curly, but when they're shaved down they look so sleek and athletic. I shave them four times a year, then let them grow out.

Mine all need baths and haircuts right ow. Maybe I'll tackle a couple this weekend.

Does Charlie have two different colored eyes?

  17. Well, I am going to be brave and tell the truth, I like the smooth coat. I really like the smooth short coat best of all. But I don't love them for how they look, I love their spirit!! Their loving personality!! Dogs Rock!!!!
    I just love them all!!
    Thanks Kim for your visit!!

  18. The transformation is incredible. I never knew that a trip to the groomer could make such a difference. With labs, groomers aren't really needed.

Tell Charlie that I want to come over and cuddle with his new soft fur!

  19. Charlie is gorgeous in both before and after photos, but I bet he smells a whole lot sweeter once he'd been coiffured!

Rosie Mae had a bath and hair cut this week too - but done by me so not very stylish (but I still think beautiful). She smells gorgeous too!

  20. You really have two different dogs there - Charlie S(haved) and Charlie N(ot shaved)! Both of them are lovable and huggable!

  21. Charlie looks great before and after! I know what you mean though. Sophie is due for a 'clip' very shortly too. It's makes her look like a different dog too.
    Is Charlie a 'doodle'?

  28. He's so sparkling white after his grooming, but he looks so... I don't know... home-spun in his shagginess. I can't decide which I like best, either!

  31. You probably got Charlies views about a visit to McDonalds spot on. After a trip to the groomers the biblical story of Samson always seems to come to mind. Wonder why ?

  32. Charlie does look happy and very much a cuddly soft-toy after his day at the groomer's. Probably enjoying all the attention and the spa treatment!
But then yes, I do love a fluffy shaggy dog too:)

Hope you are having alovely weekend, Kim

  35. Charlie is gorgeous either way but I have to say he does look "perkier" after a visit to the groomers. Maybe he was just making his "saucy" pose for the camera! You are such a cutie Charlie!

  38. He looks adorable either way but I'd have to vote for the "shaggy" look - so snuggly!!!

Thanks for the heads up on the Christmas Tree - TOTALLY missed that somehow. Glad you all made it through safely with those crazy winds!

  39. WOW! Charlie looks like a new man! Keep him away from that skunk!

  40. Well, he looks like a different pup, for sure! But I love both of his looks. The shaggy look reminds me of the old show Please Don't Eat the Daisies (yeah, an oldie from the Stone Age) and I always loved that dog. Have no idea what the show was about, but I watched it to see the dog :)
At least you both got hamburgers out of the deal!
