Update on Sandy...

I'm at work, and just thought I'd post an update on Sandy.  Blood work, x-rays all point to a diagnosis of hemangiosarcoma  Those of you who have had dogs with this, know how suddenly it can and does occur, and that there is sadly nothing that can be done.  After I speak to the rescue and get the needed 'approval' we'll say our good-byes and send her to the Rainbow Bridge.

Thank-you all for your positive thoughts and prayers for Sandy.  I know she has just come to us, and we hardly know her, but I'd hoped for more time...

  2. Oh Kim, I'm so sorry. Hemangiosarcoma is such an awful killer disease that all Portie people fear. You're making the right choice for the poor girl. We're thinking of you and her today.

  5. Just happy that she had a couple of restful days with someone who cares.

Feeling as good as I can about this. It could not have been any better, under the circumstances.

Big hugs to you and Sandy.

  16. Oh, Kim, how heartbreaking, there is some injustice there, just don't know exactly who to point the finger at. Such a shame, you had hopes for her calm retirement, too bad is was too short to really get to know her, but I know you fell in love and that hurts. I am so sorry you have to take someone to the Bridge so soon. I feel so bad for the both of you. This is one time.... I really, really wish I was there to help with the hurt.

    Love and Hugs

  25. Oh, Kim my heart is heavy. I stopped by to check and see if there were any news, but I surely didn't expect this.
I hope there is even the smallest chance the vet has wrongly diagnosed, sweet Sandy deserves that.
In the event she is to cross the Rainbow Bridge, I know she feels loved and wanted by you and your family.
    Bless her.
    Hugs,

  29. I'm very sorry to hear this. I was hoping she just had the blues due to being in a new place.

Perhaps she could muster up the appetite for one last bit of burger?

  34. I'm so sorry, Kim! We lost our first golden to hemangiosarcoma, and I can relate to the surprise speed with which it arises. I'm sure Sandy couldn't have a more loving sendoff, though.
