The vet that I have come to respect and trust for the past 6 years is currently on maternity leave. Until she returns we are seeing a recently graduated vet named 'Chrissy Johnson.' I think her name fits her because she looks like she's about 12 years old, and is no bigger than a pencil. We discussed everything and I was glad that she supported my taking Reggie off the medications for now. This morning Reggie ate a little and met me at the door when I got home this evening. While Reggie is still not herself, and her appetite hasn't fully returned, I'm really hoping that maybe we're heading in a positive direction--Paws and fingers crossed!! .

One day at a time. It sounds like the meds were the reason for her lack of activity. I'm sure you will do your best to give her comfort and quality of life. Like John said, she is in good hands. Hugs for Reggie.
ReplyDeletePoor Reggie! Our Lilac often quits eating when she's on meds, too, so we try not to give her things if we don't have to, and not in her food. Those older gals are too smart for their own good sometimes, and Lilac always knows if there's a pill in there somewhere!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, Please know I'm keeping your Reggie gal in my prayers-just like my Reggie boy. It's been almost 8 wks when the vet said only four, I'm simply amazed. Hope that her appetite returns and she perks up a bit. Hugs to you today.

Hi Kim, Our fingers and paws are crossed too. I hope that getting the meds out of her system will make a big difference.
ReplyDeleteIt is tough when your trusted vet isn't available. We've had the same vet for 12 years, and I have a very hard time going to someone else when she's out of the office for some reason. I hope that your new graduate does well by you and your pups.
I am thinking of you.
Oh my goodness! I'm glad that Reggie is feeling some better. And, you certainly can add my crossed fingers tothe bunch. Hope she feels still better today.
ReplyDeletethey can be over medicated so easily... i hope that's it! just the fact that she has now gotten up for you... she's trying!

ReplyDeleteSweet girl. I'm glad the young Vet is supporting you - had to laugh at your description of her !
ReplyDeleteAll paws and fingers crossed over here for Reggie. I wish that I could send Cody over to her, he would have her smiling at his goofy antics in no time, perhaps not moving much yet, but inspiring her a bit! hugs to her, and you, ~Debby
