Thank-you all for your good thoughts for Jake! He's really a sweet old boy and continues to settle in nicely. He spends most of his time in our bedroom. Getting him out without their being an accident remains the challenge because he's still leery of our kitchen. But I have decided that the distance from our bedroom to the living room, is the same as it was for him to go from the place in his old house where he used to stay, to the outside because his accidents seem to happen in the same place each time. Old habits I suppose. My 'usual' vet has finally returned from maternity leave and he'll be seeing her on Wednesday, so we'll see where we stand medically with him.
Tomorrow, as you know is the 9th of November--Todd will be 7 months old. He is growing up much too quickly and it shows. He's learned so much...
He comes when he's called.
He's learned to stay out of things.
And he knows to leave the cat alone.
Even though he's a terrier, he doesn't dig holes in the yard...
He really does seem to listen and understand me...
Todd is such a good boy!!
Enjoy your Tuesday!!
I am glad to know that things are improving for Jake. Glad to know too that he will be seeing your regular vet.
ReplyDeleteThe update on Todd is just too cute. Thanks for the smiles this early morning.
It sounds like everything is going good here. Hopefully Jake continues to improve and Todd keeps leaving the cat alone. Ha!

Glad to hear Jake is improving ... poor thing! Such an adjustment! Oh that Todd ... such a quick learner! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLove this post, Kim! Todd has come a long way! :)
ReplyDeleteWay to go Jake, you can do it boy! It doesn't seem like Todd should be 7 months old!
ReplyDeleteSo glad Jake is settling in, and from the photo he looks very content. But I do have to say my favourite is Todd, he is so adorable!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful fun post . The balance of old and young .
ReplyDeleteI look forward to what your vet has to say about sweet Jake. And Todd! What a brilliant boy!
ReplyDeleteCan hardly believe Todd is already 7 months old! Your "puppy" time will be over before you know it!
ReplyDeleteEver thought of putting a cheap diaper on Jake - just to get him out the door and catching the accident?
He looks so relaxed, so sweet!
Oh Todd! That is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteSo happy Jake is getting a little more settled. Poor sweet boy has had things rather tough but hopefully will get good news from the vet and start to thrive.
Glad to hear Jake is improving.

I cannot believe Todd is already 7 months old! Where does the time go.

ReplyDeleteAROOOOF!
Boondocks & The Love Shack Pack
When our rottie, Missy, could no longer manage getting outside we just scooted a blanket under her and dragged her out the front door while she was laying on the blanket. She was heavy... 98 pounds. It wasn't easy so I know what you're going through a little bit. Hope things turn around. :-)
ReplyDeleteThey all just age too darn fast!
ReplyDeleteIt's so sad when dogs get old and get sick.. That is why I dog sit for people when they go on vacation. I can enjoy their dogs or cats and not have to own one.
ReplyDeleteLoved your pictures of Todd..
Have a great day ~ ta ta for now from Iowa:)
Opposite ends of the spectrum, these two! Both adorable!
ReplyDeleteYour comments and accompanying photographs of Todd are hilarious! I'm a strong believer that a good sense of humor helps a lot!
ReplyDeletegood news about Jake - man that's tough for an old guy to adapt after all those years. bless you all for being so patient.
ReplyDeleteNever a doubt about Todd. He's had so many great mentors.
Gee, Todd has already achieved Jed & Abby's level of obedience and behavior! Substitute dragging mail & catalogs off the kitchen table for checking out the kitchen cabinets, and that whole story is Abby to a T - as in Todd :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad Jake is settling in. Hope the vet can do something to help his paws. The rest will just take time and trust.
Jed & Abby
That's wonderful that Jake is progressing and as for Todd...I've always like a bit of a rebel :o)
ReplyDeleteI hope Jake settles in okay!
ReplyDeleteHow can Todd already be seven months old? I was just reading about him on Rocky Creek Scotties yesterday! Gah!
Every house needs an outlaw ;)
ReplyDeleteStop on by for a visit

I'm so glad that Jake has a patient human like you guiding him. It sounds like he's going in the right direction.
ReplyDeleteAnd, I cannot believe that Todd is 7 months old!!!! Your photos of his progress made me laugh! What a cutie.
Good to hear that Jake is settling in. Have you thought about belly bands for him? As Arlo is intact, he sometimes marks when he gets excited, so I have started using one on him. Love to Todd on his birthday.
ReplyDeleteLinda Abby & Arlo
Todd has certainly learned "alot" in 7 months....what a good boy!
ReplyDeleteGlad Jake is settling in nicely.
Oh Todd, you are such a cutie, and you keep Mom on her toes!
