Today It's About Jake

Jake is not doing well.  He was sick throughout the day on Thursday and I thought that maybe it was the stress of being caged at the vet all day on Wednesday.  Perhaps it was.  Whatever caused it, he's unable to stand this morning. Both preferred vets are out of town and we'll have to be seen by the vet I like the least.  I need to remember that it's about getting Jake back on his feet and not my feelings about the vet who I have seen more than once give my senior dogs a roll of his eyes and shake of his head. The current appearance of Jake, I know will elicit this same response.  I can only hope for compassion and that I'm wrong.

  4. My thoughts and prayers will be with you both today Kim. I have been in a similar situation many times and it always puts me into a tailspin when I don't feel a compatible compassion with a vet. I think some vets become colder as the years pass because of what they have witnessed and that is so sad and so I hope for you today that the vet's heart is softened and there will be love surrounding dear Jake when choices are recommended.

  5. What the heck? A vet with a poor bedside manner is worthless -- I hope he exhibits a better attitude today.

Sending big hugs and healing vibes to Jake. xoxo

  7. I am sorry you have to take Jake to someone you prefer not to. I'd let him know as I walked in that I know he thinks I am nuts but could he please pretend I am not for one time. And then remind him that it is I who is paying for his childrens college.

Maybe then he will remember that We have feelings too.

  11. I hope that when vet #3 is old he finds a Dr. with more compassion than he has for the aged..

  12. Vets like No.3 should not be in the business if they cannot treat elderly pets with compassion. I hope things go okay today and will keep Jake in my prayers.

  14. Our paws are crossed fur Jake.
This vet needs to go back to charm school.
Remind him he is a healthcare professional and all his patients deserve his uncluttered attention and effort.

  18. he's in the wrong business.
no... maybe it's just that. he views it as a "business."
we who love and respect dogs of all ages know the truth.
the truth is... most dogs have more 'humanity' in a simple wag of their tail than most 'humans' will ever have in their lifetime.
my love and healing thoughts to beloved jake.
    and always, to you.

  19. I understand what you mean. That happened to me with Roscoe when he was just 5 weeks old and had parvo. The vet was not the nicest and flat out told us he would not make it but whether he did or not we had to pay for the bill. You could just imagine how upset I was.
Now, after 2 years of going to seeing the other vet, Roscoe was not feeling well. I took him as an emergency and she was the one in that day. She could not have been nicer or better with him. She was great and now I do not mind her seeing him always. They may come across at times as nasty and impatient but in the long run they are the ones that know best.
Hope that helps. Hope that Jake gets better soon and is up and running.
    My prayers are with him.
