There are some people who thrive in a room full of people or in crowded places and having a constantly moving life. I am not one of them. I like simplicity. I like living quietly and being home. Especially on days like today where there has been a soft rainfall all day.
On Saturday Carl discovered a nest of baby rabbits in the middle of our yard.
(I don't understand why the Mother chose the unprotected open space of our yard to raise her family)
But seeing the Mother rabbit sit in the rain watching over her family has a feeling of peace to it as well.
The clouds and the rain even effect the dogs. After a very brief walk in the rain, they've all found a place and settled down for a nap, anchoring the house in peace and quiet.

Finally, thank-you continuing to remember Sam. There have been a few changes the last couple of days, but he's still happy and going strong! Below is a picture I took of him on Sunday, which was also my birthday. It made the day that much better to have him with us and being able to spend it with good friends.
I hope you're having a good day too!

What a lovely post Kim, how do you keep the dogs from going after the rabbit's nest?
ReplyDeleteRabbits, Charlie and Sam. Great birthday companions !
ReplyDeleteBunnies!! Baby bunnies! Mama rabbits don't always do a great job of selecting their nest area and that's a shame. :-(
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Birthday Kim. I love to be home. I am usually home all day everyday. i am so glad Sam is well or atleast comfortable.
ReplyDeleteHow cute to have baby bunnies in your own backyard.

Happy birthday a bit late.
ReplyDeleteWe have baby rabbits just outside our fence. The dogs know they're there and watch, but can't do more than that.
I'm with you. I like routine in our lives.
Belated but heartfelt, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Kim!!! May you find more peaceful quiet days ahead.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday greetings. Glad things are peaceful--treasure those moments.
ReplyDeleteWe've been having blogger problems, too. Can't comment or it won't open some blogs. Just one of those blogger things that happen from time to time. At the moment it seems to have sorted itself out.
Paws still crossed for Sam.

Happy belated Birthday!! Love the photos, they are just beautiful. Poor mama rabbit.....seems like a stressful place for raising the babies, right in the middle of the yard. I am so totally with you on quiet and simplicity. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHey Kim
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated Birthday, how does it feel to be 21 ?
I like your simplicity statement, I have had enough of rooms full of people and crowded places.
We are now at the stage where quiet, a good book, dogs at our feet and a nice glass of wine brings us the most happiness and satisfaction.

Happy belated birthday Kim!!! I'm glad you enjoyed your special day. I'm glad Sam is still doing well. Those baby rabbits are adorable! How do you keep the dogs away from them though, or are they in your front yard?
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!!!! Look at those baby bunnies.. so cute!! Looks like you made the best of this soggy day! It was closet cleaning around here.. yuck.
ReplyDeleteI so much love days that I have nothing to do!!
ReplyDeleteCharlie looks like Gracie lying there zzzzzz Love the baby bunnies. We've had some build out in our yard as well... but not this year.
Hope you had a great birthday Kim!
Beautiful! I hope you had a happy birthday too!
ReplyDeleteBaby bunnies! Make sure you get as many pictures as you can!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad all the pups are holding their own. Todd is just adorable!
I'm like you. I'd rather be holed up in my house than anywhere else.
Wonderful photos ! I'm with you on the being at home and piece and quiet. Happy belated Birthday ! Glad to hear Sam is still going strong ! Have a wonderful day !
ReplyDeleteHappy Happy birthday. My MOM is like you as well (even if her job would indicate differently) about being home or with me or just at peace. And it always make me smile to see Sam and his beautiful face.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
Sweet sweet Kim! Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteThe baby bunnies are so sweet, and seeing that momma bunny-does look very soothing,,, but I almost think she needs an umbrella.

Happy Belated Birthday! Love the picture of Charlie drooling on the bed...he's really "out"! :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad Sam is still with you!
I am exactly the same way, Kim! I love being at home! I enjoy watching the dogs play in the backyard and hearing the birds sing. Simple things bring lots of joy to my life and I'm thankful for that!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to you, a bit late! I hope you had the perfect, quiet celebration! :)
ReplyDeleteBelated Happy Birthday! So glad Sam and Annie are there to enjoy it with you, along with the rest of the pack, of course.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the mama rabbit is a new mother and just doesn't know any better? Maybe she thinks the middle of your yard will afford her nest canine protection from foxes or other predatators that might be afraid to go in your front yard? Maybe she had a nice den and got driven out by some natural disaster and didn't have time to make a new den? Anyway, mama says we should keep our paws crossed for the baby rabbits [not our natural instinct] to grow up safe and strong.

Such a lovely post! Are the baby bunnies safe in the yard with the dogs? I'm glad that Sammy's still enjoying his time with the pack.
ReplyDeleteSUCH a lovely photo of Charlie! He looks so serene and at peace. Makes me want to curl up and take a nap. What am I talking about? It's time for me to go to BED!
I hope you had a wonderful day on your birthday. I suppose that any day where the dogs are all feeling good and it's not 100 degrees out is probably a pretty good day but I hope that you were showered with love and appreciation for the awesome woman that you are!
Belated Happy Birthday my dear...

happy birthday! great shot of the bunnies nest...
ReplyDeleteglad Sam is having good days...

Belated Happy Birthday, Kim. Hope you have a wonderful year of celebration. We are having the same rains here, all day on Tues and into today, Wed. The baby bunnies looked very cute and hope they stay safe from predators until they can safely be on their own. It is strange how animals build their nests in unprotected areas, but then maybe being so obvious is in itself a form of safety.
ReplyDeleteRead your previous post about blogger issues and have to agree with many comments that this seems to be a Blogspot issue vs. human error on your part. Eventually these things seem to work out.
Happy Birthday! I hope you had a great day! I too am a homebody. We had a bunny nest in our flower bed a couple of years ago and some of the babies still come back to our yard. I love the pic of Charlie sleeping and I'm so glad to hear that Sam is holding his own and happy! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Kim. I'm so glad that you had the gift of a good day with Sam... a wonderful gift.
ReplyDeleteI love the quiet of sitting on my deck, listening to the birds, and being with my family. I'm so glad that you had a day like that on your Birthday.
On a different note, it'll be quite a job to protect those baby rabbits from your dogs, won't it? One cold and rainy day last spring, R found a baby rabbit (alive) while out with the Runner. He used his soft Lab mouth to carry the baby to the Runner (who had no idea what to do with it - he eventually put it in a sheltered spot nearby and left).
A belated happy birthday wish to you. I'm glad you had a peaceful rainy day. I hope Sam stays well. I don't know about that rabbit mom.....
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Birthday to you! Hope it was great! I got a chuckle of your opening line about people who thrive with a constantly moving life. Too often, mine ifeels that way and yet I crave exactly nestling down in my home and being anchored. It's The Professor who keeps me from that! Darn him! Your day sounds perfect to me! And I hope those bunnies are faring well. I have a young one in my back yard again this year! Hope he doesn't discvoer my hibiscus!
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated BIrthday! Glad you got some "peace" for your special day...
ReplyDeleteLove the header..is it new(er) or am I just not very observant? Reading your blog on my phone a good deal of the time doesn't help either! :)
Hope the week has gone well for you and that Sam is doing good...
Happy Wednesday to all..

Hi Kim, hope you had a great Birthday. I loved this post. Found it very soothing. So nice to have a nest of rabbits right there in your yard! I love that!
ReplyDeleteI found a small clump of forget-me-nots in the shade garden, not sure where they came from but they made me think of you. :)
I have a lot of things popping up unexpectedly and many plants that are spreading them selves all about. I am never bored by nature!
Hi Kim, Loved seeing all these pics-especially of the baby rabbits; thankful they didn't get trampled on by others.
ReplyDeleteI'm like you in that I like being home but I also love to be with my friends-generally one at a time. I don't enjoy spontaneous trips etc.
Hope you had a good day today.
Hugs, Noreen
Happy Birthday Kim. Sounds like you received a very nice gift with the rain, Mrs. Bunny and Sam's continued good health. xoxo
ReplyDeleteBelated Birthday wishes to you Kim. Sending good thoughts Sam's way too. May you be blessed with his continued presence.

ReplyDeleteBelated Happy Birthday !
Ahhh...we both had a birthday this week? Blessings to you! And such a beautiful post...thank you!
ReplyDeleteA belated very happy birthday to you Kim! And how fun is it going to be watching those baby bunnies grow up. I wonder why mamma bunny decided to put the nest right there. You would think there is a reason.
ReplyDeleteYour berries look so yummy below.
And you can give me a nice quiet evening at home over a noisy crowded party any time!
Wishing you a very happy weekend!
