Back in Sync With Snow!

~Gus and Charlie~
Thank-you to all of you who have shared the loss of Cricket with us. Your words were not just words, they came from your hearts and were truly an expression of your feelings, and a reminder of the compassion, kindness and friendship of the blogging community.  I also received a call last evening from Cricket's vet. Dr. C's expertise as a vet really helped me to put everything into perspective--Her kind, supportive words as a friend also made a difference. (Thank-you Cyndie!)  Cricket may have been small in size, but she was big in spirit, and is missed.
~Gus~
With Cricket's passing the week seemed to be out of sync. This morning began with snow falling. Usually I'm excited about the prospect of snow. But today I just wasn't. It was started snowing heavily as I began my commute to work.  After more than an hour on snowy, slick roads, in nearly standstill traffic I was not even half-way to my office. I was grateful when I got a call from the office manager telling me that the doctor had decided to close the office for the day.
I felt my mood starting to lift as I thought about a day at home.
But first, I had to make a stop at the grocery store. Food is a great comforter (at least for me) and of course a snow day means snow-day food. I could go on and on about snow-day and comfort foods like tomato soup and grilled cheese, macaroni and cheese, and hot tea or hot cocoa that we all know are perfect for cold days.  Today for whatever reason, I took a different route and it was a frozen pizza.
~Sheba~
Before that could be enjoyed, I knew that the dogs needed to enjoy their snow-day too.
~Josh and Sheba, a favorite game!~
The cold air was another remedy that helped to lift my spirits as did watching the dogs enjoy the snow. Of course my lunch and nap helped too.  As the day comes to an end, I think we're all feeling better and back in sync.
~Buddy wearing the cone of shame again, but enjoying the snow~
I hope your week is off to a good start!

  2. Hi Kim - we're glad you made it home safely and enjoyed your day with your dogs! We, too, had some snow - and saw lots of running & zoomies in the yard! Hopefully you have some comfort after hearing from Cricket's vet - and of course, she is missed (aren't they all).

  7. Glad you are having a good day off with the dogs. You so deserve it. Frozen pizza is good for me anytime. I love any type of pizza.
Love the pictures of the dogs playing in the snow especially Buddy. He is too funny. I so wish you could send some cold weather down her in the sunshine state. We are supposed to have a cold front come through, thursday night, but the funny thing is that it will be 58 in the morning and by noon it will be in the 70's. Boy do I wish we could have a whole entire month of cold weather like in the 60's. Have a great rest of the week. Hugs, Ana

  9. So glad you all had a snow day. Losing a pack member always takes some time. I don't dare use the word "cold" here since it was MINUS 8 yesterday morning when my daughter went to work in Milwaukee.

  10. It's amazing how a day to yourself, some junk food and then time with those who can always support any mood you have, will make one feel so much better.
Burr, looks mighty cold, our ice is gone, its 44 today here but 18 tomorrow, maybe you can have that pack tomorrow to help with the healing!

  15. A snow-day at home, perfect for a heart filled with sadness and so many memories, let the crew play in that snow, and hope for another the same tomorrow. Comfort food, was there any chocolate or ice-cream hidden in there too? Hugs. Jean.

  16. How wonderful to have a day off and play with the kids in the snow.
Think I would have gone for the mac n cheese, but that's just me. :)
I think after driving on the slick roads - a stiff drink might have been comforting too.
No snow here, just cold and more of the same on the way.

  26. Maybe, your office will be closed again, tomorrow!! No getting out at all! except, of course, with the dogs.
Great pictures, each one better than the last. I love Buddy rolling in the snow, without a momentary thought to the cone. What is going on with Buddy, healthwise?
Comfort food and cold days go hand in hand, don't they?
    Extra hugs[:

  30. Howdy Mates. First off we want to send our sincere sympathy on Cricket passing to the Rainbow Bridge. We are happy though, to think of Flossie and Cricket reuniting again. You gave her eight months of love and she loved you right back. We send you hugs because it is a special thing to care for the elderly and you made Cricket a wonderful part of your family. Glad you had a snow day to relax and enjoy each other. Take care all. No worries, and LOVE, Stella and Rory

  34. So sorry about Cricket Kim and I guess you have to go through this a lot with your calling. You give them the best ending possible and you are amazing.

Lovely to see your snow as we've had none yet. None last year to speak of either so I'm rather missing it. Great shots of the dogs enjoying it! xx
