~A field near our house~ |
The tea was at historic Rosemont Manor, which was a respite for U.S. Presidents and celebrities as well as a previous estate of a Virginia Governor.
The company, the tea and the setting could not have been more lovely or enjoyable.
Back at home, just as she has in previous years, Sheba let me know that the wild-black-raspberries are ripening -- And just as it has been in previous years, I can't wait to make that first cobbler.
The weekend also gave me the chance to focus on George. I've ordered chinese herbs for him. There are a couple of herbs which can be used to treat cancer as a primary therapy in cases like his because I've opted to not do surgery. I've had mixed results in using them. But they have very few side effects, and so I'm always willing to give them a try.
I hope you had a fun and enjoyable weekend too!
Finally, thank-you all for your caring words on the loss of our boy Dusty. Once again, you have made a loss easier by your sharing in our loss, and by your kindness and friendship. He is missed!
glad you had a nice weekend and great tea. sheba makes me laugh. :)
ReplyDeleteDusty, what a gorgeous photo, and George, I would also try herbal remedies. Let those berries ripen fast.

I did not think I'd like the banana bread and chicken salad either, but we were all pleasantly surprised, and it was my favorite for that course!
DeleteHello Kim, Looks like a beautiful place for Tea and a birthday celebration. I always enjoy seeing the sweet furbabies. The blackberries sound yummy. I hope the herbs work on George! Happy Monday, enjoy your new week ahead!
ReplyDeleteDid you eat all that or carry half of it home for later? (Though, I think I would have passed altogether on the pimento cheese on cornbread) What a lovely place!
ReplyDeleteYour berry eating dogs would probably like my blueberries - maybe good for sweet George? I hope he is helped by the herbs.
I have to admit, I did not think I'd like the pimento and cornbread, but it really was good, the flavors were not too heavy, making it a perfect "bite."
DeleteWhat a treat to go to such a magnificent place for tea. Did you try the Rose ice cream?
ReplyDeleteI did try the rose ice cream, it was delicious, creamy and fresh, and the rose flavor was not overpowering at all!
DeleteA wonderful place to eat. Did the dogs enjoy it? I know you wouldn't go to a place that doesn't welcome dogs.
ReplyDeleteWe missed the post about Dusty - sending tons of pug hugs for you

What an elegant place to celebrate your birthdays, and an interesting combination of flavours !
ReplyDeleteDo hope that the herbs will help George, and the tumour will shrink before it becomes uncomfortable.
A gorgeous place to dine, for sure.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday and God bless you all. ♥
We hope the herbs help. You've had so many dogs in your life, but their memories are still there.
ReplyDeleteThat is a magnificent place. SHE wonders why SHE's never heard of it!
What a lovely place for a meal with friends. I hope the herbs help George.
ReplyDeleteWow! You got to sample all of them? Fantastic! Chicken salad on banana bread sounds strange. And I'm sure the pimento cheese on cornbread was made just for those of us not accustomed to high tea. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a setting for a birthday celebration...had to be a great time. Your photographs are always terrific (by the way). Cobbler! Sounds good to me!
ReplyDeleteWOW ! looks like a lovely place . I am glad you had a nice weekend , Happy belated Birthday . I love berries , cobbler sounds great Lovely photos . Thanks for sharing , Have a good week !
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a wonderful place for tea. What a fun and special thing to do for birthday celebrations. I absolutely love cobblers. I've been so hungry for rhubarb which we had in our garden growing up in Iowa. To be honest, I could probably eat a whole pan of it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place to go for tea! It looks like a gorgeous place!! So glad that you had a relaxing weekend...you certainly deserve it. Love all the pics!
ReplyDeleteOh Dusty. Glad you got some relaxing tea time
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteI apologize for not coming around for so long. I honestly dont know where the time has gone, because I look forward to connecting with Golden Pines.
First, I'm so glad that you and your friends treated yourself to a wonderful time at Manor House. I think "tea" is a
very special way to celebrate.
When, I realized it had been way too long since I visited, I worried that one of the babies time might have come. So very sorry. Dusty was a wonderful dog and I know how you still love him. So very hard to see him slip away and know he was ready. I love that a wren sung. I do believe it is a comfort from God. Scripture says that he cares for all living creatures and is aware of all's tribulation. He also appreciates your loving kindness of taking such good care of Dusty and everyone that comes to you. "Hugs"
I love the picture of Sunny. I do believe it is the best one I have ever seen, knowing he has always been camera shy. He looks so happy!
Cissy does march to her own drummer. Gotta love her!
Georgie does look happy. I love that you reminded us that he doesn't know he is sick. Hopefully that will continue with the chinese herbs. I remember how stoic he looked when he first came to you. What a change TLC can make.
Thankfully, Axel found his way to you. It's hard to imagine that people are so callous as to decide they no longer want a dog that they made a commitment to care for years earlier. It is also surprising that when it breaks our heart to see him so malnourished, they don't notice or appear to care. he is safe now . Maybe there are circumstances, but still it is hard not to be quite irritated. Sweet eyes.
Sheba and the blackberries. I had to smile, remembering how she loves them. I remember the pictures, just seeing her rear end , obviously enjoying them in the bushes. Take good care and enjoy your cobbler.
Gus' Mom
Do you have a cobbler recipe to share? Our blackberries ripen later - towards August I understand. It'd be nice to be prepared.
ReplyDelete...and I'm so sorry about Dusty. Hugs and love.

I hope you know we are hugging you, and all of Golden Pines!
