Settling Dust and a Rocky Creek Reunion

There has been dust blowing through my blog lately and I keep saying I'll get back to blogging when things settle down and the dust settles.  Then I saw this quote that reads in part,
"...you keep waiting for the dust to settle and then you realize this is it; the dust is your life going on..."
I realized, that's what happening.  Life is going on as we settle into a new routine with Youngest Brother living with us. The dust will never settle the same again. But it has been a good change, and none of us have any regrets about those changes.  I know this is how it's meant to be and should be.

So thank you so much for sticking around even when I’ve been the worst blogger and not putting much attention into blogging.  It remains one of my goals and a priority to keep this blog going.  So for those of you that have stuck around when I’ve been the worst blogger, thank you! You are seriously the most loyal followers!  Your taking a moment to stop by,  leaving your thoughts and your friendship really mean so much to me!

So onto some news....  Last weekend, I packed up Todd and went to the Rocky Creek Scottie Reunion.
~A Scottie Angel on my shoulder for the drive~
This was our 3rd year that we've gone.
~A view of Rocky Creek Farm, Todd's birthplace~
It's great fun and always a chance to see friends, make new ones.
~Todd, left, sharing a drink with family~
Rocky Creek Scotties has gone to Australia, and this year, two new family members from Australia came. One is the owner of Todd's nephew, and he has hopes of breeding Scotties in his corner of the world. And of course we always enjoy seeing Todd's Rocky Creek Mom, Lynn, pictured below.
All too soon, it was over and it was time to go.  Todd was really worn out afterwards, and ready for a nap.
~Yes, that's a bow-tie on Todd~
Me, I wished I could have stayed longer.
But there is always next year.

  1. Think Todd was in his element! Sounds like you both had a good time. (You were due)
So, brother is all settled in as well as the cat? I, too, think this was a good move for all concerned!
    Hugs to you all!

  3. How fun! Having another helping hand to be there when you're gone must make you feel more comfortable about leaving your homestead. I know it would me. I loved the Dust quote and read it to my husband. We are always waiting on something and I'm so tired of it. I will keep that "dust" in mind.

  5. Hi Kim, What a beautiful area for a reunion. If I lived in a area like this, with lots of land and rolling hills, I'd have more dogs. So good to catch up with you Kim.

  10. I've been a bad blogger too, it's just life. Todd is so cute when he smiles, I guess he was happy to be home again.

  11. What a beautiful farm. When I sold my last house, I had planned on buying a little place with a bunch of acres - and then I fell in love with a man who have a 100 year old house in the middle of one of the biggest cities in the country. Fortunately, the original owners bought two lots, so we are surrounded by big trees and can pretend we are in the country.

  12. Lovely post. You must be full of energy to last longer than Todd. Bet it was a quieter trip back home. You are so right about the dust. When it settles it's all over the floor and the cycle begins anew.

It's your blog and you owe no apologies for times when you are silent. We will always wait.

  18. What fun! We don't need a family reunion because we're all here together every day. Todd looks so clean and tidy. We love Lynn, she's a nice lady. Did Todd remember her?

  25. Wow, I love Todd's bow tie! What a fun event to be able to see Todd's family.

We love when you can share a bit of your life with us but there's no pressure from me to do it anything but freeform! The life that you're living between blog posts is what is so wonderful to read about!

  26. Oh, I love the quote about not waiting for the dust to settle. We just keep thinking it will, but life is definitely a dust storm most of the time. Reading your blog helps us to let the dust settle for a moment and appreciate you and Carl and your wonderful family!
I certainly appreciate you sharing your life with all of us. You have my utmost respect and gratitude for all you do.
So glad you and Todd had a good roadtrip. It really looked like a lot of fun. Love Todd looking over your shoulder, so cute.

  27. Many of us are guilty of neglecting our blogs from time to time, myself included. I can see you had a great time at the reunion and it's good to hear everything is going well with your brother too.

  28. I am a bit behind on what's been happening around here so need to do some reading to catch up. I didn't know your brother was coming to live with you, but it sounds like it has happened and things are going well. Todd certainly looked like he had a great time visiting his old family and friends. It's nice that you were able to take a few minutes and go and visit. Take care Kim...we will always be here whenever you post.

  29. That looks like fun!

And we've all been there, I have to take blogging breaks too. Besides, by letting life get in the way, we have new things to write about later!

  30. It's so cool that you all still get together. I often wish Sampson's siblings had had reunions. It's so cool seeing how they've grown.
