For Coppa's Girl

Dear "Coppa's Girl,"

I know this post is past due, but I hope you understand that I didn't want to leave a reply to one of your comments, because I worried it may be overlooked.

But I wanted to let you know how sorry I am about the loss of your girl, Inca, in October. You'd mentioned her in many of your comments, and I felt like I knew your beautiful Lab through you. I know that Inca had a wonderful and full life, and your beautiful companion left this life knowing she was loved, adored and treasured -- And all that and so much more are what Inca took with her as she left this life for the next, and is and will always be a part of you both. It is that love and so much more that will always keep you connected to one another.

I know your house feels empty without Inca. And so I hope that when the time is right, you'll once again consider opening your heart and home to a dog that needs someone like you to love and adore them, just as you did your beloved Inca, who's loss, I am truly sorry about. ❤

  1. The photo is perfect as is the tribute to Inca. We did not know Inca, but her story touches us in our hearts, because when a pet leaves it doesn't matter if we knew them or not. The hurt is real. Condolences to Inca's family

  3. Dear Kim,
Thank you so much for those heartfelt words, and the beautiful photograph. My girl could not have had a finer tribute paid to her.
It was such a difficult decision to let her go, and afterwards, even knowing I'd done the right thing for her, I still felt that perhaps I could have kept her for just a little while longer. She was so much part of my life and came almost everywhere with me.
However fate has already stepped in, and I have given a home to the lovely Lindy. She's a mixed breed with a touch of Golden Retriever in her, and the sweetest face and disposition, but sadly neglected since her owner died early this year. She's an old girl -14 in January, but with the exuberance of a two-year old! When her owner died the "caring" family wanted Lindy put to sleep. The poor girl has been passed around like a parcel - a few weeks with one family and then on to another, a longish spell in kennels and then a week or two with a friend of a friend, which is how I came to hear about her. My friend phoned and sent me a photo, and last week I brought Lindy home with me. Tomorrow will be our first week anniversary!
I had always intended to have another dog, having had two or three at a time over the years, my house is not a home without a furry companion. Inca will always hold a huge place in my heart, but Lindy is helping fill the gap.
Now we are getting to know one another, and Lindy is learning that she can't counter-surf and it's not polite to bark at other dogs, especially if they don't bark first!
Thank you so much for your kind thoughts, and to everyone else who has sent condolences.

  4. What a lovely tribute to Coppa's Girl. It's nice to see that Carol has already filled her home with another pup that needed her love.

  5. We are sorry about Inca having to leave for the bridge. It always hurts so much and there are no words to take away the pain. We saw a rainbow cloud for the first time not long ago and it was a truly beautiful sight.

  6. A beautiful tribute for Inca, and for Carol to open her heart and home to Lindy, the love Carol has shared before will carry on in the circle of life.

  7. Awww, that was a beautiful and moving post. If you have a nice clear image of Inca, I could make a memento to honor her memory.

    PS:
We are rooting for Todd and his upcoming procedure. Hope the issue can be solved and resolved. POTP, Todd!
