Josh's Lost and Found

My day off work is really off to a good start, and it is for our boy Josh too.  For several weeks now, his beloved green frisbee has been missing.  For whatever reason, this is his very favorite thing in all the world.  If you look at his pictures over the last few years, you'll see that this torn, dirty and worn out green frisbee is almost always present or nearby.  So when he lost it,  of course I tried to find it for him, but couldn't.  Knowing how much he loved to carry that frisbee around and play with it, I tried to get him to find a connection with the exact same kind of frisbee, but a much newer and cleaner one.  Needless to say, it didn't work.  They were only cheap substitutes for the one he really loves.
Having said that, you could see why I cheered this morning when we were out for our walk, and Sheba came to me with the beloved, lost, dirty green frisbee in her mouth--Of course she won't tell me where she found it, but it didn't matter, she found it!  I took it from her, and showed it to Josh who had wandered into the 'forbidden zone' of the yard--When he saw it, he immediately came running to me to be reunited with his beloved green frisbee.
As I've said before, it really is those little things that make you smile, don't they?
So, how do you top that for the rest of the day?  Well a couple of friends are coming over this afternoon to help me with the clean up of the old shingles from the barn roof.  The work is mostly completed, but there are still some things that need to be 'tweaked' on it, that I hope will be easy fixes.  But Carl, (who continues to recover uneventfully), and I have been the recipients of several acts of kindness and friendship, and for that we have been humbled, and are grateful.  I hope you are having a good Thursday too!

  5. I remember that old frisbee and I'm so glad Josh got it back. Also glad that Carl is doing well. I too feel blessed by the friendship and encouragement that has come my way from my friends here and my blogger friends from all over. Including you, dear Kim, in the midst of your busy life you always find time to reach out.

  8. So glad Josh was reunited with his lost frisbee. Thankfully Sheeba found it. My daughter (21) has her old balnkets that were her sisters from when she was born and the are all torn, stained and those are the ones she wants. I have bought her the same brand ones in several different colors, but she claims they are not the same, even after washing them several times. Go figure. Ana

  10. Toys, valued so much, and sometimes new ones not accepted so well, and our friends, valued so much too, there when needed, in the background when in reserve, treasured like a well worn toy,not bright and shiny and new,but with the wonderful patina of life. Greetings from Jean

And I'm glad Josh has been reunited with his frisbee! I'm sure all of us have a tatty little something we're really attached to - in my case it's an old purple shirt that is falling apart but I can't part with. Go figure!

  20. Years ago, my son gave our little Scottie a battery powered, heavy nylon ball. He loved it more than anything and it made a huge WAHHHH noise with breaking glass in the background. It just went lost and no one knew where it was, until one spring day, we were out in back and Oatsie came up to me, dropped his wahhhh ball at my feel with the most joyful expression ever on his face. We had to replace the battery and other than that it was in good shape. That he found his treasure himself was the best thing!

yes Kim, without the 'little things', where would we be!

  22. Oh I know how he feels. There is nothing like a good, old, and reliable favorite toy. I have a blue ball thing that i have had since I was 6 months old. I love it and no other ball will ever replace it. I keep a close eye on it as it has been lost a time or two. I blame the squirrels just messin' with me. Have a beautiful day.
    Blessings,

  23. It just struck me that Sam and Josh could be brothers - Sam looked so much like Josh when he was younger, down to the lighter "cat" fur that Josh seems to be sporting.

  40. Josh reminds me so much of Easton. They resemble each other and have very strong play drive (and of course, love their toys). I think I see the lovely Annie in the picture with Josh with his beloved green, floppy frisbee at his feet. I take pride in being able to ID your pack. Hope your weekend was good.
