The other milestone is that six months ago today Shadow became an official member of Golden Pines. There is no question, Shadow has found his place in the pack and in our home and hearts.
One of Shadow's best qualities is his patience -- He patiently waits for the door to magically open so he can see the cat.
And when he knows it's dinner time, he patiently waits in his crate for me to bring him his meal.
I have to remind myself that this most gentle of Golden's has practically just gotten here. I cannot thank his first family, who are readers of this blog, enough for trusting us to give Shadow a home.
Finally this milestone again reminded me of how I've missed welcoming new additions into our home. So we decided to step out of our little circle, and we applied to and became a foster home for Lab rescue, for their senior dogs. I've no idea where this will take us, maybe nowhere. But one thing I do know, that if asked, we will always, always have room for a senior Golden in our home, and now, maybe, there's room for a senior Lab too. Stay tuned!
you have such big hearts. so glad cissy and shadow found your love.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful place !!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh boy! Those labs are going to love Golden Pines.
ReplyDeleteHow lucky that Lab will be, he or she,to find a home with you and your pack.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh Kim, you make me cry happy tears, you are a wonderful Angel. Shadow is such a gentlemen, and Cissy came a long way. Golden Pines is beautiful as are you, Big Hugs Francine.
ReplyDeleteOh Kim
ReplyDeleteWe are so happy for all the animals that you have shared your home with!
Yess, Cissy has come a long ways,,, fitting right in- along with Shadow.

Oh Kim.... generous, kind-hearted, welcoming, precious human being, Kim!! I can think of no better place for a senior to be than on your homestead. What a wonderful place for furried friends to spend their last years. How blessed each furry member of your family is & has been.
ReplyDeleteCarry on, dear compassionate one!
Love ya~ Andrea
XOXOXO
You are just the BEST, such sweeties to rescue these loving and lovely dogs.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely place to retire to, if I was golden like Todd, when I retired I'd stay at y'alls place.
ReplyDeleteAroo to you,
Sully
Time is just flying by! Cissy looks so good now. Shadow is such a sweetheart. So much love at your house!
ReplyDeleteI always love reading your updates at Golden Pines, the happy times, along with the sad times & the love you give to all of your dogs. You are such a giver. I hope when in your latter years of life if you ever need a little tender care, there will be someone as wonderful as you to look after you. Take care my friend.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe that the Golden Rescue is so petty. Good for you to help out some senior Labs. We're sure they'll be grateful!
ReplyDeleteXXXOOO Bella & Roxy
A senior Lab ? How wonderful !
ReplyDeleteKim, you are wonderful to open your home to these beautiful dogs.. Shadow and Cissy are both adorable sweet dogs..When hubby and I first married we started out with a Yellow Lab puppy named Sunshine, then we added a Golden named Daisy..we had a litter from both and kept a male choc lab named Maui and another Golden named Sierra. They were our favorite dogs and miss them so. Now, we have one our dear Goldie Girl..Have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteThey are both such lovely, sweet breeds.
ReplyDeleteI just adore reading about Seniors...especially those at your house!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteYou two are amazing. I can't even imagine how incredibly difficult it can be to take the dogs in but so truly rewarding too I would imagine. LOVE the photos of Shadow - such a great guy. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with what everyone else has said, you and your dh are one in a million!
ReplyDeleteI marvel at your capacity for love and acceptance for all of these new additions to the Golden Pines family, and I am grateful that you are so good about posting updates about them. That way all of these four-legged sweethearts become part of our circle, too.
ReplyDeleteI hope that your split with the Golden group doesn't affect your budding relationship with the Lab rescue. Been in rescue groups myself, so I know that stuff happens, relationships end, and new ones come along. (and you already know how much I LOVE Labs.)
How lucky Lab rescue will be to have you both on their team. Looking forward to reading about the new adventures :0)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Kim....Labs too! You are so kind. I can't believe it's been a year since Cissy arrived - it seems like a couple of months. It's not just the dogs getting on....x
ReplyDeleteKim, You are simply amazing to me!!! I count it an honor to know you here and so thankful for the love you pour out on all your pack. Well done friend. I know you will have more love surrounding you as you bring more pups home.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Noreen
How wonderful for both you, the pack and the senior Labs out there! Best of luck with your new venture!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post Kim! Always good to hear about how well the 'residents' are doing. And what a sweetheart Shadow is!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the Labs.....this will be interesting to watch.
What a wonderful, joyful place is Golden Pines, Kim! Happy Milestone Celebrations! Shadow is beautiful, and how adorable that he waits for kitty! Hugs all around. :)
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe it's been a whole year. I'm so happy both Cissy and Shadow are doing well. And what a big heart you and Carl have. Any old Lab to come to your home will be one lucky dog, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteHe's a gentle soulX
ReplyDeleteI just have to say....thank you for being you!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait until we can have a doggy..but for now 9 cats is quite a job!!
Oh that Shadow! He makes me melt...
ReplyDeleteSo glad that Cissy and Shadow found you -- actually that all your babies found you!
ReplyDeletei cried when shadow could stay.
ReplyDeletei was afraid his fascination with the kitty would make him have to leave.
some dogs simply love kitties!
and i'm glad of your news.
your heart cannot go without saving a beautiful dog.
and they're all beautiful!
those silly silly people at that golden rescue place. so petty.

Good luck with your new endeavor. Maybe one day I will read that you have applied to foster senior Chessies. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful milestones for sweet Sissy and patient Shadow. I love the stories of both.
ReplyDeleteI hope that you get to foster senior Labs. You would be wonderful for them.
Hi Y'all!
ReplyDeleteOh lucky Shadow. Sissy has found love too. What a happy pack!
Y'all come back now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
how time flies, seems like only yesterday that Cissy came to stay and ... like....10 minutes ago for Shadow. GOOD FOR YOU - willing to take on senior Labs - I always used to tease my Lab owning friends that they are honorary Goldens; cause they're so much alike.
ReplyDeleteGod made us in all shapes, sizes and colors, humans and dogs, kitties too.
ReplyDeleteI'm especially fond of Sissy and am glad to hear that she's doing well. Her looks have certainly changed since we first met her.
ReplyDeleteIt should be fun to shake things up a little with a Lab.
