I don't know about you, but I can't help but wonder what this argument could have possibly been about that caused a man to pay $100 for two pies? ....One that knew he was wrong I guess!

It Takes Two!
Another typical week is coming to an end very slowly. Last evening I met a friend for dinner after work. She works at a local pie shop and I got there as she was locking the door at the end of the day. Just as she was finishing her inventory of the baked goods there was a knock on the door. Standing there was a middle-aged man smiling hopefully and showing us a $100 dollar bill, asking to be let inside. My friend and I looked at one another and she reluctantly opened the door and let him in. He apologized and said that he knew the shop was closed for the day, but he was desperate and he really, really needed to buy two pies and would give my friend $100 for both and she could keep the change and consider it a tip. I was glad my friend asked why he needed them so badly, because if she hadn't, I would have. But he explained that he'd had an argument with his wife, and he knew that he was wrong, and to help with his apology, he needed two pies. Of course she sold them to him, kept the change and my friend bought our dinner.

It sure looks like a good pie!! He must have really been in trouble to pay that much for two pies!! We have a little pie place like that about 45 minutes from us. I would drive hours for her pies!! Glad you got a free meal out of the deal! Happy Weekend to you and yours...

ReplyDeleteThe Pres loves pie....but that's a hefty tab for an apology! "I'm sorry" would have worked for me!!!...:)JP

You had me when you said "local pie shop". Now, local for you isn't local for me, but it's close enough to make a fly-by when I'm up that direction next time. Do tell.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a pie instead of a bunch of flowers. How nice that he paid for your dinner out too.

ReplyDeleteThat was a great story. Very nice of him to recognize he was wrong, surprise his wife with the pies and at the same time treat 2 women to dinner.
Have a great weekend. Ana
me oh my, I love pie!
ReplyDeleteThat would have been a good start for a make-up!
Pies are good, but not that good!
ReplyDeleteJust proves it takes all kinds. Funny story but I do wonder why pie?
ReplyDeleteSounds like a desperate man, for sure!
ReplyDeletePie. Now you have my attention. Yesterday I suddenly got a craving for pie so I guess what I'll be doing this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, What a wonderful story-firstly a man who was apologizing to his wife and secondly that he gave your friend such a huge tip. He must have really been in the doghouse!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful weekend my friend.
Hugs,
Noreen
Yum! Pie!
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteHope his wife accepted his apologize. The pie looks delicious.
Nice that the extra money was used wisely and you had a nice dinner with your friend.
I'm looking at those pies again and my eye has spied two Rhubarb pies which would have my name all over them if I lived close pie. Wish we had a specialty pie shop.
Take care.
That looks like my favorite pie shop in Leesburg. They made our wedding pies (we chose pie over cake)! YUM
