A day off work took me to Lancaster Pennsylvania.
~Crossing the Susquehanna River~ |
I thought that she would enjoy meeting him, and I thought that he needed the chance to be "the star" for awhile. I was right, it was a good visit, not just for them, but for me too.
~An Amish Farm~ |
It was a whirlwind trip that of course included lunch.
~Cheddar Bacon Scone and Tomato Bisque Soup~ |
With a winter storm on the way, our visit came to an end much to soon. Buddy and I were back on the road for the two hour drive home just as it was getting dark. Thankfully there was only bad weather for the last half-hour and we arrived home safely. Today we're awaiting another snowstorm to that is predicted to bring "accumulation." We'll see.
Finally I'll add that Buddy is doing pretty well these days. He is a happy, energetic and playful boy! I thought that we had resolved Buddy's allergies, that are mostly food related. A couple of weeks ago, I took the next two photos that showed how his skin has healed, and how he is now sporting a new, shiny, soft and healthy coat.
But for some reason, he had a bit of a set back. He began chewing and pulling out some of what had just grown in.
So, just for now, he's again wearing a "cone of shame." He doesn't mind at all, and he isn't letting it keep him from having fun and playing games with Todd!
Even if Todd always wins!
Road trips are good for humans and dogs, and it sounds like yours was fun. I love to go to Lancaster! Boo about the upcoming snow storm. (Love your new header pics!)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great road trip for your and Buddy! The soup, scone and cupcakes all delicious! I love your sweet Buddy and Todd photos..I hope we do not get too much snow.. Have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteLancaster is always lovely a road trip. How nice it was that you and Buddy were able to visit your friend. What sweet face that Buddy Boy has.
ReplyDeleteThere's NO way that he doesn't mind the cone.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, but Buddy looks like a crotchety old man in his first photo! LOL :-)
ReplyDeleteReading this post was like riding along with you on your trip ~ thanks for sharing.
Poor Buddy having to wear the cone, but it can't be too shameful if he keeps playing! Sounds like a great day trip!

ReplyDeleteI hate the cone of shame.

A visit to Lancaster is always on my to do list when I visit Virginia. Hope the storm isn't too bad. We saw lots of snow on the news, but kinda missed exactly where it hit!
ReplyDeleteoh that beloved old face.

So glad that Buddy is doing better, although he has had a set back. He is absolutely gorgeous. His coat is the same color as Roscoe's. Beautiful color. I am sure he felt very important and he should being the star of the visit. Have a wonderful rest of Sunday. Ana
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, so sweet of you to visit your friend. Nothing like a dog to lift ones spirit. Love the two together, adorable.Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteCrikey ..... that sure looks like a nice place to visit. Mum would like to go there one day. Buddy looks great. So different from the first pics we saw of him, aye??
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, You are not only an angel to dogs, but also to friends. So glad you and Buddy were able to go see you friend. That's quite a drive for just one day. We are having nice weather for a couple of days and then snow is forecast to come back next Saturday. Stay safe and warm my friend.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Noreen
How nice of you to take Buddy to visit your friend. Oh, the lunch looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteIt was so sweet that you took Buddy, the star, to visit your friend. I went to Lancaster many times as a child, and I worked for a Mennonite family when I was a teenager. So you brought back lots of memories. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteBless you for making the trip! I'm so glad Buddy had you all to himself for it, and that the cone doesn't keep him from having fun. He's such a sweetheart.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you had such a nice visit. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Y'all!
ReplyDeleteOh what a nice trip for Buddy.
My Human is so glad we're safe at home here in the Low Country where hedges and camellias are blooming and weeds are already coming up in the gardens.
Yes, the sun is shining again today and temps are in the 60's. We've got our paws crossed that y'all stay safe.
Thinkin' about y'all,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Poor guy - I've read a couple of blogs now where folks are dealing with allergies, and they seem to just be so frustrating. I'm glad you and Buddy had a safe and fun trip!
ReplyDeleteMonty and Harlow
Those cupcakes sure look yummy!
ReplyDeleteI hope Buddy's using that cone to his advantage by hoarding all the toys and treats as often as possible!
Glad you had a good trip to see your friend and that Buddy enjoyed the visit too. He is looking good and I love the picture of him with Todd. I think Buddy 'let's' Todd have the ball to play with, lol. We've heard about the snow storm heading your way on the East Coast, so do take care, keep warm :-)
ReplyDeleteI see you about to get some really stormy weather, you may fell like your back in Alaska! Buddy looks good. Pickles our new cat seems to be having some allergy problems and I need to get her in to be seen. I think dealing with cat allergies is harder in a multi cat household, such is life!
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope that he will let the hair continue to grow back in- those collars always make me cringe- I imagine how awkward it must feel. He looks like he is taking it in stride. Glad you were able to cheer your friend up. Blessings!
ReplyDeletePoor old Buddy. It seems as if some dogs are just prone to problems, minor or otherwise (like our Monty). Hope he's on the mend. Cro x
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice thing to do and so glad you arrived home safe and sound. So nice Buddy had a good day. Henri is on "kangaroo & oats" dog food and he still has the habit of licking somewhat, but it seems to have helped. Otherwise he has the dehydrated sweet potato slices that I do for his "cookies" and a spoon of canned pumpkin in his dog food.
ReplyDeleteWinter journeys always seem to be cut short by the weather. Buddy would probably have forgotten his food allergies if he'd been introduced to pumpkin custard !
