Off to the vet this morning with Hamlet. He's developed a cough this week, and his paw is swollen. The vet felt thought that his lungs didn't sound as clear as they did last week. He has a little bit of a temperature, so we've put him on antibiotics. We both don't think that the cancer is encased in the tumor alone and think that it probably has spread elsewhere, but we've no way of knowing. But what I do know is that given everything, Hamlet really does to seem feel pretty good. He has a great appetite, he still wants to go on walks with us, so we're just going to ride the wave and be thankful for each day!
On the way home, I saw this little pedestrian crossing the road alone, where there was no crosswalk. I knew he would never make it across 4 lanes of traffic, a median and survive in a construction zone, so I stopped and picked him up and brought him home. This makes 4 terrapins I've moved off the road this year. This little guy was in a hurry to be on his way, so we let him go at the edge of our woods and of course wished him 'good luck!'
You did a great job taking him home! Can't believe it was allready the forth one! I never see one!
ReplyDeleteThanks and i hope Hamlet keeps his appitite and want to go on walks!
Leontien

ReplyDeleteHi Kim,
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear the latest news on Hamlet. As many of us who have dealt with cancer in our dogs know, it is indeed "riding the wave". Great to hear that Hamlet has a good appetite and is keeping busy engaging with everyone. :)
He's truly in the best of hands and I hope you all have a lovely weekend. (Preakness Saturday!)
Take care,
C

Hope Hamlet starts to feel better. When we have these family members so long, it is hard when they age and problems develop. We just gotta help as we can.

How cool is that! We don't have friendly things here - most are poisonous. I'd love to rescue a turtle!
ReplyDeleteWe will keep our paws crossed for Hamlet - he looks very happy in his pictures.

Hamlet looks happy! That's all important. What a cute little turtle. My lady once helped a baby snapping turtle. It was teeeeeny.
ReplyDeleteBless, one day at a time sounds good to me.
ReplyDeleteSweet little terrapin ... :0)
I rarely see a terrapin where I live anymore but when I do I stop and move it out of the road.
ReplyDeleteHamlet is happy with you and he knows he is fortunate to be there.
Sweet Hamlet ~ you make me smile!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to help this cute turtle across the road and onto safety! He will hopefully live a long and happy life!
Have a super weekend Kim!
xo Catherine
The cough is probably caused by the weather. I know it's been reining a lot recently in your country. Well, I just hope he feels better soon. I bet that terrapin was very thankful to you for saving him. If it wasn't for your kindness, he would be a roadkill.
ReplyDeleteAs God's personal representative of unconditional love, Hamlet will soldier on, bringing all he touches joy and confirmation that all is well in the physical world; even if he is not.
ReplyDeletePaws Always crossed for Hamlet.
A kind and noble gesture relocating yurtle da turtle.
Prayers going up for Hamlet! Glad he is feeling good with all going on!
ReplyDeleteAROOOF!

I hope Hamlet keeps feeling good. I love reading about your rescuing of little turtles, it always makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteMy mom, brother, our dog Rhea and I could use your prayers today as we had to say goodbye to our dog Rhea and let her cross Rainbow Bridge early this afternoon. She had been suffering from degenerative myelopathy for four months and in the middle of the night last night, my mom saw that Rhea could no longer control her back legs and that she was, understandably, very upset about it. The only thing we could do was say goodbye to her.
Best wishes to Hamlet -hope the medication helps x
ReplyDeleteNo way is Hamlet ready to go! Look at those eyes.....he has a lot of livin in him yet!
ReplyDeleteYou are an incredible person Kim! I don't care what you say! You are.
I'm sending good thoughts to sweet Hamlet. I love his attitude - finding happiness regardless of his aches and pains. He's an amazing dog who reflects his amazing humans.
ReplyDeleteI'm fasinated with the animals that are in your neighborhood. You have a deer, turtle, and cowbird. Nothing like those in our hood.
ReplyDeleteTake your meds Hamlet. Love to see you up and about.

ReplyDeleteHow is Hamlet doing??? Please give him a big hug for me please.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Homer
Yep, those terrapins should carry a crossing sign when they brave traffic.
ReplyDeleteRead some posts to catch up on Hamlet. Glad he is getting some smiling time and enjoying food and walks. Hope he loses the temp on the med.
My Hubby is a "turtle saver" too...
ReplyDeleteI will have that engraved on his headstone after he gets hit by a semi saving a turtle... :)
Sending positive thoughts and energy to sweet Ham, and hugs for you,
~K
Get better soon Hamlet!!
ReplyDeleteHurray for saving turtles! We find lots of aquatic turtles around our house. Usually birdies drop them after scooping them out of ponds. We always return them to where they belong. Good job Kim!
