A friend of mine in an e-mail asked me how Sam was doing. I sent her a picture and said that I thought that Sam was 'riding a wave' and was doing okay. Being an avid surfer, our friend responded back that she was so glad that Sam was 'going off' and explained that this is a surfing term used to describe a very good, consistent surfer who is surfing particularly well. I liked it, and thought it fit Sam perfectly; he's riding the wave pretty well right now! Even though the left side of his face is swollen, and he's lost the use of his left eye, Sam seems to be comfortable and not having any pain. We're continuing to let him set the pace of this part of the journey. He's up to going for walks with us, and is enjoying the bumper crop of blackberries that we've had every day this week.

Keep riding that wave. Days of grace are so special and precious. Sam is so lucky to have *you* to spend them with and to be by his side for this journey.
ReplyDeleteYummmmmm.....blackberry cobbler. :) A perfect treat! So happy to hear Sam is doing ok.
ReplyDeleteIts all about the quality of life. I would rather a dog have one day full of love and affection then a lifetime with out it. You are an amazing woman. you are doing the right thing by listening to Sam, its so amazing how dogs tell us when its time. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteyou're a good boy, sam. :)
ReplyDeleteBless Sam's heart. And you too, missie! :)
ReplyDeleteGood looking cobbler!!! I made pesto with fresh herbs from our garden yesterday--a lot of work but so go and good for us and Zoie likes it too!!

Glad to hear Sam is going off. He is one lucky dog to have you helping him through this time.
ReplyDeleteLoved the blackbery cobbler. Ours will be ripe soon and a cobbler is first on the menu.
Glad to hear that Sam is still taking an even stride with the family.
ReplyDeleteHo do you get that stain off Charlie's face?
I love how much you are enjoying Sammy's days of grace. Revel in the Surfin' Safari - I know Sam is loving spending these days with his pack. Hang 16 whenever you can Sam (you'll have to do the paw math on that one)!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Sam is still surfing along nicely. I was thinking about you last night and am glad I got to read some of your news!
ReplyDeleteI read back a couple of posts...sorry to hear about Sam. What a lucky dog to live the end so well with you.....
ReplyDelete(The blackberry cobbler looks yummy!)

Hi Y'all,
ReplyDeleteThanks for stoppin' to visit me!
That was wonderful news about Sam! My Human said that cobbler had her mouth watering and it was only a picture! Our blackberries aren't ripe yet, but we're at 4000 ft. and the mountains and trees limit how much sun they get.
Hope y'all are havin' a wonderful, fun week!
Y'all come back now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Hope you all have a blessed weekend. ♥
ReplyDeleteAhhh, such sweet souls! The cobbler looks divine too! Hugs and love to all of you there. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to read that Sam is enjoying the blackberries. Your cobbler looks yummy. Hope you all have a good weekend xxx
ReplyDeleteYou have been a busy gal Kim! I hope you and the pups have a fantastic weekend and are able to enjoy some sunshine and relaxation.

Kim, I'm so pleased to read about days of grace with Sam. I well remember cherishing every day with our Reggie, never being sure when the end would come. Hunter is finally feeling better-yesterday was a rough day for him, guess he doesn't tolerate pain too well. He is acting like himself though today.
ReplyDeleteSending love to you and the pack.
Noreen
Hang ten, Dude! You're looking lovely lying in the evening grasses! And we would adore to have the recipe for your scrumptious looking cobbler! MNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!
